The way i've been drafting this year (due to solid value later) is Stud RB (AD, Turner, Forte, MJD, LT, SJax) than go WR WR WR. There is lack of quality receivers in the later rounds, while there's good value at RB in 5-8th rounds. If you don't get Brady, P Manning, Brees... i'd wait on a QB like Ryan or McNabb.

One team i have drafting with the 2nd overall pick:
    1 M Forte
2 R Moss (dont ask how he dropped... this draft was RB/QB happy)
3 C Johnson (again with him)
    4 M Colston
    5 D McNabb
6 K Smith (solid, may have a break out year)
    7 T Jones (solid backup)
    8 K Walter
    9. Min
    10. P Harvin
    11. V Shaincoe
    12. R Rice (sleeper running back this year)
    13. R Longwell
    14. M Hassleback
    15. A Fasano
In all the drafts I have seem Kevin Smith is going in the 3rd (or late 2nd) and Rice is somewhere between 6-8.
    Amazing value on those guys.
Wow ... I have not seen Smith anywhere near the 3rd or even 4th round. But as for Rice ... that is a really solid pick.
Also like your WRs a lot.
Depends on who you are drafting with, who want to take a RB or anyone from a team that finished 0-16, it is mostly mental.
Also, if Stafford starts, running might be tougher.

I've drafted WR early in all my drafts. Then get a bunch of running backs later when everyone else is trying to find WR. Works great in 8 team leagues because after round 3 or so everyone has there 2 running backs and then guys start to fall. In my 12 man leagues I ended up getting sum scrubs at RB though.
I like to wait on the QB, even in the final rounds there are some servicable QB's available.
I watch defense, as soon as I see a couple go then I draft one on my next pick. Seems like after a couple go they all go quick.
For the kicker I always wait until the final round. The difference between the #1 kicker and the #12 kicker is not very big.

edit: I should note that I never win so you might not want my advice.

I have won my league the last 3 years.

    My hints:

1)Do not worry about Defenses and kickers.
You can usually pick up a good one from week to week.

Def who ever plays lions or oakland
Kicker-look for kickers in a dome and where the offense either scores a lot of points or stalls in the red zone a lot

    2) My first 3 picks this year were WR, QB, WR.
Don't fall into the "You have to pick a RB in the first round" trap.
I had the 7th pick in an 8 man draft.
I picked Fitz rd 1 and breeze (sp?) rd 2.

    3) Have fun and do not over analyze.
I have lost weeks because I overthought and sat some one down that if I would have started I would have won.

    good luck

I hope you took that kicker early.
