The Minnesota Vikings have gotten a complete face lift in the off season. Dante Culpepper went to the Dolphins and Brad Childress takes over as the new head coach. The Vikings made some savvy moves in the free agent market and rebuilt their offensive line by acquiring Steve Hutchinson and Tony Richardson. These moves will signifcantly improve the overall offense. Now Childress needs to figure out how to motivate underachieving Bryan McKinnie.

Brad Johnson will start off this season as the starting quarterback in Minnesota. The only question is how long will he remain in that role. Johnson was 7-2 as a starter in 2005, mostly by avoiding turnovers with only 4 interceptions compared to 12 by Culpepper. Johnson was unable to make big plays though and in 9 games threw for 11 touchdowns and 191 yards passing. Childress is going with Johnson because of his familiarity with the West Coast offense. Expect Mike McMahon to come in should Johnson not be able to move the chains.

The Vikings were in the bottom of the league stats in running last year. This should change due to the new offensive line compiled in the off season. Chester Taylor will start in the backfield. Taylor has great hands and will be used as a receiving back in the West Coast offense however he needs to prove he is durable enough to be the starting running back. Mewelde Moore will be the back up but will also challenge Taylor should his production slip.

The wide receivers on Minnesota are a group of talented yet unproven players. Expect Troy Williamson to develop into the first option for Johnson. He is clearly the fastest receiver on the Vikings. Other receivers competing for playing time include Koren Robinson, Travis Taylor, Marcus Robinson and Jermaine Wiggins. Koren Robinson is a playmaker that makes plays after the catch. Look for him returning kickoffs and punts as well.

Kicker Ryan Longwell was signed in the off season to improve the pathetic Vikings kicking game over recent years.

The Vikings took Chad Greenway from Iowa in the first round of the draft to sure up their linebacker core. Childress is looking for a player to step up as the leader on the defensive side of the ball this season.

Predictions: Childress addressed the needs of the Vikings in the off season, but it will be up to the players to execute and deliver. This is not the Vikings year and they should miss the playoffs for sure.

Bryant McKinnie really can't be called an underacheiver anymore if you ask me. He is on the verge of making the pro bowl and some felt he should have gone last year.

Also there is no way in he!! McMahon is gonna come into the game for Brad Johnson, unless Brad is injured. If Brad can't move the chains, McMahon surely isn't gonna be able to do it either.

whoever wrote this article knows absolutely nothing about football..apparently we have a Bryan McKinnie on our team..Johnson also only passed for 191 yards in all of his 9 games..Jermaine Wiggins is also a WR for the Vikings according to this writer..no credibility, this guy should find a new job

Koren should be the number 1, not Williamson. Koren has proven himself, Williamson has not yet. If the Twins actualize their potential I believe they are a Super Bowl team; IF THEY ACTUALIZE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL.

:roll: Yeah, try 12 TD's and almost 1,900 yards passing in his 9 games, which averages out to over 200 yards/game. Not spectacular, but certainly good enough to win games. This writer is a rube!
