Had that chance and blew it. This has been a shitty draft for this team. They will learn very quickly that they made a huge mistake by not taking a guy like Hernandez in the 1st, and instead going with Mike Hughes. Not to mention that we just got a basic “project” in O’Neil in the 2nd round. This has been Spielman’s weakest draft as a Viking thus far. His wanting to get 10 picks is great and all, but what good is 10 picks if you are getting your 5th and 6th options on every pick? I’d rather have 3 really good picks, than 10 average picks. For a team that just got blown away in the NFC Championship game, they sure dropped the ball in this draft.

you are rioght about everything except Hughes, he will be a stud. Other than that they have basically brought in players who are not going to be ready for at least two years. It is very sad when the second best draft pick is a kicker. Spielman must have been smoking something this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man I sure do hope so. I wanted Josh Jackson the CB from Iowa but I guess Zimmer knows something we don't.

Josh Jackson played off zone more than man coverage which is why I assumed he chose Hughes. Plus he has a return man which means he can cut Sherels and has an extra spot for someone else.

I think we have cap issues coming up. In a few years there is a chance that we won't be able to sign Rhodes. We just signed Waynes to an extra year. Hughes is reassurance for potential loss in the near future of one of our CBs.

Newman is back for at least camps and preseason to be a mentor to these young corners.

Offensive line...... it will work itself out or Cousins will be throwing slants all game long to Diggs and Thielen.

Speaking of money and cap, there was speculation that we won't be able to sign Diggs when he comes up. They might try to work out a deal early if possible.

I hope the local boy Weineke (WR) will be another Thielen.

We are in pretty good shape cap wise, contrary to what was a regular narrative in the offseason trying to convince people we could not afford Cousins.

It would be tough to resign Waynes AND Diggs next offseason, but still COULD be done if both players want to stay here. (and of course, we don't have to resign Waynes until the season AFTER that)

But the Vikings are in control of almost the ENTIRE defense for at least two years and three centerpieces of the offense for at least three years. Honestly can't do a ton better than that cap wise.
