Nice player to have as he can be the backup the guard and tackle position. Key word is backup.
Gabe Jackson in the second would be a great pick in my opinion. Zach Mettenberger in the third. With Linebacker or Sammy Watkins in the first.

for me this is a move of consistency. even if we draft an OG we would want to keep bodies that know how to work together and slide in any newbies as they progress.. unless of course we toss in a 1st round starter right away.
he's not an ideal we must have type of player.. but he knows the guys around him, and know how to get out of AD's way.

much what you say digital, but what would be nice is to see Baca battle Charlie for that starting job. nice also that if really needed in a jam, Charlie has experience at tackle also. This is also a sign to me that we either pick up another G in FA or pick a G in later rounds of the draft. This really narrows our draft picks in the first and second, possible 3rd round, to QB...LB....and good chance of RB in the 3rd or later....But i do see us going QB..LB with the first two, but not in that order necessarily.
I LOVE THE SMELL OF VICTORY IN THE MORNING AIR.

CJ is versatile, and there's something to be said for continuity along the line. It probably also says something about the lack of remaining talent at guard out there. Sometimes the evil you know is better than the unknown evil.

No better than backup. I'm no GM, seems expensive.

Not an expensive move at all for a veteran offensive lineman. I am sure he could have gotten similar money elsewhere, but not more. Which leads us both to shrug our shoulders and say ... all right come on back.
I don't mind this for depth since he can certainly provide snaps at almost any position. Hopefully someone pushes him for the starting job or we draft another lineman (either a guard or versatile one) that can come in and provide a lot of snaps and then Johnson is a deal and not a liability.
