Vikings receive permission to interview Norv Turner

Apparantly we have permission to interview Norv Turner to come in as our OC.
My understanding is in order to sign him away, we need to be promoting him, so I'd expect he'll get the "Assistant HC" or "advisor" tag as well.

What turned out to be a great day, just had a slight hiccup

Vikings receive permission to interview Norv Turner
I just keep thinking how inconsistent San Diego was, especially with half season offensive collapses. Everyone else is excited, I'm more muted on this.

As a HC, Turner was a bust. But as an OC, he's one of the best ever.

Well possibilities are there, still if we actually have a defence that then might just cover any hiccups from the offense. People I've spoke to rate Norv as an OC just can't do it as a HC - but thats fine as not every OC/DC is automatic HC material.

If we offer him the job, I hope he accepts. Why would he want to stay in Cleveland? He may not even be in their new HC's plans, whoever that turns out to be. And if Browns offer him HC gig, he should be well aware that is a job with ZERO security. They only give a guy one year to turn around an eternally moribund team? Please...

I wouldn't worry about Norv. Let me give you some history of what happened to that San Deigo team. LT left the team. Vincent Jackson left the team, Multiple talented OL retired or walked in FA. The GM ruined that team and Norv took the blame. Hard to win with no running game and disgruntle or injured WRs/TE.
