Harrison Smith - Vikings' Next Safety?
The Vikings' next safety?
Harrison Smith
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 213 lbs
40 yard dash: 4,5 seconds
I can very likely see him available with our second round pick considering we pick very early. He's the number two rated safety by most people and he has excellent size and speed for a safety. He's a playmaker and I would like to see him play next to Abdullah this season.
He started playing linebacker in college because the starting safety jobs were taken and now owns school records in tackling and he's always around the ball. He later moved over to safety and Deion Sanders even said that he looked so fluid and technically sound at the combine that he might even play cornerback.Last edited by HEY; 03-19-2012 at 12:18 AM.

Nice to look back at old posts. And even nicer to see predictions are being confirmed
Harrison Smith - this guy! Makes me forget all about the "Tyrell Johnson project". This guy is good! It's so nice to finally have an athletic and smart safety with speed and excellent size who can defend the run, lay crushing hits, and catch the ball.
I honestly think Smith might have the best hands on the whole defense. Really really happy the Vikings listened to me :P

Good read, especially like the praises from Winfield.
Harrison Smith a 'breath of fresh air'
''I love him,'' said cornerback Antoine Winfield. "The guy comes to work every day. He's very smart. You can tell he's a real football player. Great knowledge, great football awareness, and he's making plays on the field, which is rare for a young guy. We haven't had that consistent playmaker in the secondary since Sharper."

According to the StarTrib's Jim Souhan, Smith's interception was the FIRST for a Vikings safety since 2007!!!!
