View Full Version : Can the Vikes goose egg the Lions?

The last shutout I could find was on Dec 5th 1993 against the Lions.

Can the Vikes do it?

It's the only team this year the Vikes have a chance to shut out.

well if theres a game that they wanna get some things right and work off of, this is the one.
i believe we have the bears after this game so we gotta get some things going to feel good going into that game.
we can not have another ugly nail biter.
we're home, coming off a big win, and detroit is all kinds of fucked up.
does anyone even know if kitna is gonna get the start?
if they are gonna have orlovsky in there its possible.
if we can hold carolina to 10 points, i'm pretty sure we can hold detroit down a little bit more than that.

I don't think so. They have good receivers, and our pass D is the weak link. Griff might have a long day, if there is no pressure from the front four or blitzes. Games in our division are always tough no matter how bad the team is. Just get the "W" (I don't care how we do it).

If we can´t beat the kitties at home,we can´t beat anyone

After all the storm ,we can be leading our division next week btw...

if the falcons can beat them. then we stand a terrific chance.

AD should have a WAYYYY better game vs the worst rush defence i have ever seen

I don't want Ced to get a "lucky" pick. He needs to play good D and get that pick to boost up his confidence and believe in his cover skills. It's all about the confidence when playing CB in the NFL.

I just want to see him get turnovers regardless of how they come

The Lions have received 148 points in 4 games ,anymore to add to descibe their D?

Goose Egg!?
Lets just worry about actually winning the game first.
This is an divisional game...it will most likely be close no matter who wins.
I don't see our pass defense stepping up the point of "goose egg".
I'll be happy with a victory.

At some point in this game....Kitna will turn into Kitna (just see the last 7 minutes of their game against GB this year) or better yet.....watch the following clip!

We need more of that

We haven't gotten much pressure and the teams are taking advantage

Screw a goose-egg, I just want a win.
Lions are desperate and if we come out flat again we may lose.

This is the game Jared Allen will get stats, I believe.
I also hope that Winfield has a great game with an interception and maybe another sack fumble!
Our defense causes at least three turnovers and we score on two of them.
Antoine and Kevin Williams (On a forced fumble, sack caused by Jared Allen)

This will probably be a fun game to watch, for Vikings fans.
Hopefully i'm not dissapointed!

34 - 7!
We win in a blowout!

+1

If you look around--anyone can almost beat anyone--I don't care if it's a 6-3 stinker.
Just win the damn game baby!

Umm, the falcons seem to be a decent team.

Matt Ryan has done in his first chance what Chill has been unable to do in 5 chances................

i know the falcons are a good team.

but im just saying that because it was their 1st game in the regular season.

gregair13

No because the Lions know how to pass and their two star WRs are like at least a mile tall

DustinDupont

Dont think it will happen, have you seen our special teams... they get in field goal range if not score...

oaklandzoo24

I hate to say it but i got a bad feeling that either Roy or Calvin is gonna go off on us.
Someone is going to get matched up with Griffin 1 on 1 or... or 1on1 with Tyrell and there will be mistake made atleast once.
Whether or not they score is what will determine the game.
We need to put pressure on Kitna (aka big game from JA) and someone needs to step up and fill the gap left by EJ (i really hope Erin gets a chance to shine even though Herron will start).

like many said here I just hope we get a W. the lions scare the hell out of me for some reason (maybe because of their receivers and kitna is average) They will come out throwing and out pass D looked terrible last night.

we will score alot on their D.

but your right. their WR's are a scary duo. but you gotta remember. their QB's are doing worse than our's this year
i do believe

Not a chance.
Our special teams will let them score at least once.
Plus, with Bevell calling the plays, we will have trouble getting past the 50 yard line. :P

We should win this game by at least a TD, but I think it might be closer than some think.

Goose egg?
Are we insane?
We barely beat a so-so Saints team, we bring in a 2-3 record and a host of issues and we're talking goose egg?
Crazy.
Let me remind you, the Lions are a professional football team.
Yes they are struggling mightily now, but I can assure you they're not a bunch of girlscouts.
There are some good football players on that team, players that we could use on our team and that would supplant some of our starters.
Additionally, let me remind you this is a division game, so anything can happen- these games are usually tough.
If memory serves, the Lions only won a couple games a few years ago and one of them was against Minnesota.
Hopefully the Vikings aren't thinking about such nonsense and instead are concentrating on execution and winning the game.
Skol!

That's what I thought you all would say.
Your attitude is to squeak out a win.
That's all you want is a win.

Myself I wish this team and the fans would have the attitude of destroying the other team.

Crap the Vikes have been shut out 3 times since the last time the Vikes shut out someone.

The Bears last week held the Lions to 7 points, and it's not because their D is great, they gave up 20+ the 3 previous games.

The Saints had the #1 passing attack and the Vikes held them to 1 TD.
The Lions are #19.

I'm going to be rooting for a shutout, NOT just a win.

No. This team will be lucky to win.

Can we?

Yes.

Will we?

I don't know.

Even if we did, would people complain about the performance?

Yes.

I want a blow out.
I expect a win.
I want AD to break his rushing record.
I expect him to have a good game.

If you expect the Vikings to dominate the Lions, then you are underestimating the Lions.
On any given Sunday and all that jazz...
I expect a win, but I am not going to be arrogant enough to expect a blow out or a shut out.

no we will not. with every team having great starting position against us cuz of are crap special teams it will only take 1 big play to get in the kickers range.

We should win, but I wouldn't expect us to shut out anyone now especially that EJ is out.

Like I said, we should win, but if we don't I will be at a loss for words.

We won't be able to avoid giving up field goals if our special teams keeps letting them get to the 45, 50, and beyond.
