He has a chest sprain (whatever that is) and is week to week. The Green Bay paper says he may not play the opener.

That's not good news for the Pack, but AD may be glad to hear that little gem

That is definitely good news for Vikings fans if he doesn't play.

AJ is a solid player.. but honestly, at least for the Viking game, the injuries along the Defensive Line are more concerning.. most notably at DT with Pickett still not on the practice field and Harrell nursing yet another injury..

I say rest him til he 100% and rely on Chillar, Hodge and Bishop to carry the torch until he returns.

That would be a blow to the Pack. Although I think he is overrated.

We've had our share of injuries so I won't feel bad heading into the game and him sitting out.

Plus they have Jolly that is possibly going to prison.

I thought those charges were pretty much gone.
I stopped following it about a month ago, so I could be wrong.

Well for the record.. that matter will probably be litigated until after the season..

Speaking of prison.. What is the status on Mt McKinney? Still in the legal system I assume.

Mountain is doing just fine.
Looks like he'll get off with no charges since he did no wrong in the first place.
Apparently it was his buddy who hit the bouncer with a pole and only because the bouncer groped his littler sister.
That is what he should tell the commish anyways.
:P
Let's see if it flies....
Probably as well as a lead balloon.

I wouldn't consider him WAY overrated..
But he does get alot of media hype, that's for sure.

Some stats to munch on:

Greenway (2007) - 105 tackles, 78 solo, 27 assist, 4 passes defended, 2 INT (1 for TD), 2 forced fumbles, 4 recovered
Hawk (2007) - 105 tackles, 78 solo, 27 assist, 1 sack, 4 passes defended, 1 INT
Hawk (2006) - 119 tackles, 82 solo, 37 assist, 3.5 sacks, 6 passes defended, 2 INT

I'm actually surprised to see how close Greenway's stats are to Hawk's.

Noted..

Thought I heard the league office was reviewing the case.. and BloodyHorns.. I like the story he went with.. thought they had eyewitnesses that he swung the pipe.

Either way.. hope that cat is on the field.. no excuses.

AJ Hawk may miss opener

Now that the drama queen has left for NY, the GB papers need to drum up something to sell papers, why not turn to their next biggest star player for headlines?

If it says "may", my guess is that he will be playing.

I was in a WI mall shortly after the Favre trade. The walls were littered with Hawk jerseys & no other Packer player.

I hope Hawk misses the opener, every half step slower they get will be another big play for Adrian, and our offense. 8)

Ok, well maybe not Waayyyy overrated, but still overrated.
Personally I'd put him on par with Greenway right now, but keep in mind Greenway is almost a year behind in development.

According to NFL.com/stats, they are real.
But, keep in mind, the NFL doesn't compile tackling stats, the individual teams do that.

Exactly.
And with that defensive line infront of Greenway, he should continue to be on par with his 'rookie' debut.

I'm actually REALLY excited for Greenway's future.
I just hope he stays healthy and continues to improve.

I would have thought Hawk numbers would have been much better. He plays ILB correct? He is definately overrated if our OLB who never gets mentioned puts up the same numbers as an ILB who is constantly hyped. I like Greenway even more than before, now.

A.J. Hawk plays WLB if I'm not mistaken, Barnett plays MLB.
I'm pretty sure Greenway and Hawk play the same position.

Right on....I wasn't sure. Still, as good as Hawk suposedly was/is coming out, Greenway put up better numbers in essentially his first year. I think we got a bargain.

Especially considering we're paying him as the 17th pick in the first round and not the 5th.

Took the words right off my finger tips so to speak haha...
But I will be the first to admit it, AJ is a stud but Greenway is right there with him.
After his season ending injury and to bounce back and have the year he had is awesome.
I think he is going to keep improving on a stellar defense and should start to get some recognition...

P.S. watched NFL Yearbook last night on the season last year and just wanted to add the Greenway flip into the endzone for the 3rd INT return against the Giants!!

Going to be hard for him to do that when he is no longer on the team.

This is a good thing and can only help us put a hurting on these guys to start the season. Hawk is a little overrated anyways ... but he is definitely intense and already a leader on that defense.
I will definitely not whine about ducking him for a game.
