Current City:

F-16 Crew Chief/Maintenance Tech
USAF/ANG

How did you choose your screen name?
1)
I chose "Sandviking" because I currently live in the desert southwest.

Could you tell us a little about where you grew up and about your family?
2)
I grew up in Sioux Falls, SD, and I am the youngest of 5.
I have 3 brothers and one sister.
We all loved sports, but we lived in a "house divided"; half Vikes/Twins fans, half Packer/Yankees fans.
That sucked.

What type of student where you in High School? Did you play in any sports or where you involved with any school clubs and such?
3)
I layed low in HS.
I tried to play football, but I was 5' 4" and weighed 130lbs.
I didn't see much playing time.
I was big into bowling in HS, but back then (82-85) it wasn't a school sponsored sport like it is today.
I wasn't involved in any other school activities.

What did you do after High School?
4)
I didn't go to college after high school.
I only wanted to work at the bowling center, and I had aspirations of being a professional bowler, so I worked on that as well.
I never did go pro.

What was your first job?
5)
My first official job was delivering the local newspaper at 13 yrs old.
For you younger kids, we delivered papers and collected the money each month.
It was a great experience in developing people and communication skills.
My first unofficial job was stocking the beer cooler where my mom worked.
I was 11 yrs old.

When did you decide to be such a dedicated fan of the Minnesota Vikings?
6)
I have been a Vikes fan as long as I can remember.
I have liked other teams as secondary teams, but no one as much as the Vikings.

Could you tell us one of your favorite memories that has to do with the Vikings or one of its past or present players, coaches, etc.
7)
I remember watching Fred Cox kick the winning field goal with no time left to beat the browns at Metropolitan Stadium.
I don't remember the date though.
Obviously a long time ago!

How did you come to find PP.O and what attracted you most to the site?
8)
I found PP.O via a search engine.
What attracted me was the friendliness of all the people on the site.
I remember looking forward to Cajun and the 'Lil Redhead banter back and forth.
I miss those days.

What other sports teams do you follow?
9)
I follow the Twins and the Suns.
I tried to follow the Timberpups, but I was a Suns fan before the pups came to be.
I watch hockey, but don't have a favorite team.
For college football, I follow Michigan Wolverines and University of Arizona.

When you’re not on PPO what could you likely be found doing with your spare time?
10)
I attend church on a weekly basis.
I spend just about every other weekend with my 14 yr old daughter whow lives in Phoenix.
I jog to stay in shape, and I love to play softball, basketball, and volleyball.
I still bowl every once in a while.
Otherwise I'm at work.

Do you say a special prayer before Vikings games?
11)
I don't say a prayer before Vikes games.
God is in control, and if it's His will for the Vikes to win or lose, I will except it.
I like it better if they win though.

Where do you watch away Vikings games?
12)
I watch away games at home.(when they show them here in AZ)

13)
My worst fear....that something terrible happens to my daughter.
She is the light of my life on this earth.

14)
I enjoy playing sports and spending time with good friends.
I know that's vague, but I don't have a hobby per se, like fishing or underwater basket weaving.

What’s your favorite food?
15)
I love a good steak, with baked potato and a salad.

Where are some of the places you’ve been, and where are some of your favorites.
16)
I haven't traveled to too many places.
I've been to Reno, Niagra Falls, Jacksonville, New Orleans, Knoxville(TN), San Antonio, and Witchita Falls, TX.
These have been because of work or bowling tournaments.
I have lived in Sioux Falls, SD, Grand Forks, ND, Phoenix (Mesa, Gilbert, Apache Junction) AZ, and Tucson, AZ.
Boreing.
I loved living in Grand Forks.
It was an all-around great place to live!
Reno and Knoxville were absolutely beautiful in the surrounding areas.
I wouldn't mind living in either place.

17)
I want to skydive.
Some day I will do it!!!

If you could live anywhere where would it be?
18)
I think I would live in Colorado Springs, CO.
Four seasons, mountains, and it's half way between my home town and where my daughter lives.

Do you believe the Vikings will have their big day someday? When they do win the Super Bowl, what will be the first thing you think you will do?
19)
I think the Vikes will win the Super Bowl some day.
I don't know how I will celebrate, but it will be fun.
I think I will call all my Packer friends to let them know!!

Up to this date, what is one of your favorite PPO memories?
20)
I really enjoy reading Cajun's posts.
He is very intelligent, and he encourages lurkers to join and post.
We are on opposite ends of the political spectrum, so I enjoy reading his point of view on political items before they get locked or tossed off of the site.
