No we're not.

Shut down the hype.

We're still 8-8, big predictions can only do harm.

I don't care about that Mr.A how would it do harm?

Predictions shouldn't be taken seriously, but it's nice to get recognition

I agree that we had a great offseason. We upgraded our pass rush, our secondary, and our receivers.

But we still have a major issue, in my view: QB. And this won't go away.

it will eventually go away, just not this year

Opinions and predictions are like assholes

You figure out the rest.

I think sometimes journalists just need something to write.
I am not saying we are poised to take off, but I am sure lots of teams think they are ready to take off.

Oh well

Oh well

not only that, but you get around a million predictions, so how can anybody really take them seriously, or even get upset when they arent in the vikings favor

it was a good regurgitation on what we have heard since draft day..

it will be that way until something interesting happens at training camp and the preseason games.

i'm ready for football

I'm going to believe the hype until I'm shown otherwise.
:D I have never been more excited to see a team play as I am this year...and I"ve been pretty darn pumped in the past.

we can read all the predictions we want...we're not going to know anything until the first few game play out

I have a terrible feeling we're going to crash and burn this season.

I don't agree with some of this :
QUOTE
Jackson has no more excuses. This is his third year in the league and his second as a starter. The Vikings have provided him with pass protection, solid receivers and a fine running game. He has good coaching and a proven system from which to operate.

I agree Jackson has no more excuses. But I don't agree he was provided with the best pass protection, solid receivers, or a proven system. And the jury is still out on coaching.
I see this team as one that might make the playoffs. Anything beyond that would surprise me.

But if we do see solid protection, receivers, coaching and scheme. The sky is the limit. And Tarvaris should have a breakout year!

I like your post for the most part but "Might make the playoffs" isn't gonna cut it. Last year we should have easily made the postseason with
the guys we had. Throw in the mix Jared Allen, Madeu Williams, Thomas Topeh, Tyrell Johnson, Bernard Berrian a Healthy Sidney Rice and Antonie Winfied and look out we're coming at em hard. Tarvaris completed his first season with us at helm along with a few other rookies of the "system".

Imo I think we should be expecting SB. Of course its best to take things one day at a time but when you look at the whole picture and the amount of talent on our team there is no reason to believe otherwise unless your one of those fans that decides its best to avoid hype because of past let downs that have nothing to do with the future.

I definitly agree with you when you say we need to get everyone on the same track, only then can we really see what Tarvaris is all about and what he can do. The physical talent is in place and if guys like Childress and Birk are right about him when they he is smart, big things are too come.

I'm just glad neither of you guys are involved inside of our orginization in any way other than just a fan on a website. This type of attitude leads to exactly what it is. If you guys did work inside of our orginization I would hope that you were fired, this type of attitude can spread in any type of orginization or business. Some would call them leaches even effecting a fan base.

Nice prediction, but I don't expect it to be the Colts rather the Patriots. Your signature definitly contradicts your recent posts. Maybe your confused?

Gotta disagree with ya bit here TW.

Last year we had to many young guys playing in key positions (not just QB) to be consistent enough to warrant a playoff berth.
Hell, most on here were talking about another 6-10 season and firing the Chiller.

As with last year, we still have alot of 2nd year players in key positions that will also contribute to some inconsistency.
Hopefully not as much as we saw last year, but it will be there none-the-less.

Playoffs yes, but to expect SB this year is a bit of a reach even for me (Mr. Optimism).

I don't think it is impossible at all if the staff is a good one.

We are always going to have young guys at key positions. Heck, the G-men won the SB last year with what, 4 rookies on the team?

We can do it.

I agree that you will have young guys at "A few" key positions, but seriously, do you really believe that our situation is the same as the Giants?

Hell, at QB alone TJ is less experienced.
Then add to that the fact that our 2nd best WR is Rice (2nd year), our RT (2nd year), Primary Backup at S (Rookie), LB (Chad) will be playing for his second year, etc etc etc.

I expect the staff will have them competitive every week (during a tough schedule) and I expect them to get to the playoffs, but to really "Expect" to get to the SB this year with this cast of characters is a nice dream but not very realistic.

Now come talk to me prior to the 2009/2010 season I will be expecting a goal of that nature.

Well stated. Addition of a few good players doesn't automaticly vault an 8-8 team into the equivalent of the Patriots.
I think they will get there also. But I'm going to let them prove something before I jump on a superbowl bandwagon.

If I see issues, everyone else should as well, you would think.
