That big, beautiful white envelope was waiting for me when I got home!
Weeeeeeeee!

It includes:
The tickets
Window-cling - white Norseman logo - classy - better than last year's
2008 Account brochure (for online account handling and setup)
2008 Fan Guide - All about the game-day experience - more about that in a second
Various marketing crap

Now - as to the Fan Guide.
If you turn to "Metrodome A-Z" and look to "T" for "Tailgating" there's not one word listed.
And the map of the Dome area in the back does not highlight the lots.

Has anyone called the ticket office lately for an update on that?

I agree, the window cling is much better this year.
I am actually looking for a large (12" to 18") white Norseman decal just like that to put in the back window of my truck.
If anybody knows where to find one, let me know.

As far as Tailgating, it wasn't listed in the 2007 fanbook either (I am a nerd and keep them each year).
I might call the ticket office tomorrow to see what's up anyway...

First year season tickets usually run in the $400 per ticket range.
You can get them for as low as $250 per ticket, but those are in the upper reaches (still good seats though) and sell out quickly.

Right now I am in the $740 per ticket area.

And there is no waiting list right now... which hasn't always been the case.
After 1998, the waiting list filled up pretty quickly.
Of course, in 2 years we will be back to back super bowl champions, so ticket may be harder to come by... ;)

Received my tickets in the mail today. I am so excited. I am glad that this year I don't have to worry about getting tickets. I can concentrate on getting the tickets for the away games. Looks like for sure I will be going to Baltimore, Green Bay, Tennessee, Chicago, Arizona and either Jacksonville or Tampa. We better get a home playoff game as well. I also see that we get a chance at Super Bowl tickets if the Vikings go.

The ones SKOL provided the links for might be illegal for a back window as it looks like it blocks too much view, but those are made in my home town.

The ones SKOL linked are legal in ND - we are not required to have visibility out the back window in trucks.
But the one you posted looks pretty kick ass too.
Do you have a link for it?

You do NOT get to pound a bunch of Miller Lite in the parking lot and then come into the Dome and get all hopped up on vodka - AND THEN SIT NEXT TO ME.

Don't you realize how PRIVILEGED you are?

Game 3 - AD jumping into the crowd after a TD
Game 4 - Birk and Hererra lined up
Game 5 - Viktor!

Game 7 - Sidney Rice and AD? celebrating with TJack in the front
Game 8 - Jared Allen!
Game 9 - Wade
Game 10 - Older fans

=Z=

A few notes from the Fan Playbook Guide:

I had no clue you could get mix drinks in the dome.

There are a couple of full service bars, although they don't stock top shelf.
I've had a whiskey coke there before and decided I was better off with beer.

Were they weak?

No, burnt actually.
But it was poohie whiskey.

Excuse me Mr. Top Shelf.
;)

Only the best. ;)

Last time I was in Vegas we went to a show and upgraded to the VIP tickets where you got free drinks and front row seats.

I went up and tried ordering some crown/coke but was told that the "free drinks" didn't include any top shelf.
I don't know what they put in with that coke but it was absolutely horrible and I'd MUCH rather be drinking beer if the crap they serve in the Metrodome is of any comparison.

I was referring to the bottom of the barrel whiskey, but admittedly was unaware they served Premium in the dome.
Good to know, although I typically don't drink much after I get inside.
Usually only 1 or 2...otherwise I fall asleep (pass out) when I get home and miss the rest of the day's football, then wake up at 8:30 PM with a hang over.

I think when I originally bought season tickets, my seats were in the $300 per seat range.
That year we had the opportunity to purchase playoff tickets (even though we didn't make it), and according to Quicken I paid $214 for the playoff tickets.
That would have been for two seats, although I don't remember if it was one or two games - I almost want to say just one because we were chasing the #4 - $6 seed.
Since we didn't go, the $214 was credited to my account for the next year.

I would say that to be safe you might want to have $100 per seat per game.
Luckily you have around 4 months to save up for it. :)

Any word on how much the cheapest PSL will be if they get a new stadium. I'm guessing(based on other teams) the cheapest ones will be atleast $1,000 a seat, so we can all start saving for that(or airline tickets to LA). :'(

I thought PSL's only come in to play on stadiums that are privately funded??
Such as, when the financiers have to be paid off at a quicker pace.
How can they charge a PSL when taxpayers flipped the bill for the stadium?
I don't think Zygi can play the PSL card unless he pays for it.
I could be wrong though

So the newer season ticket holders tend to get theirs a few days later.

Any team can do PSLs.
The Rams have PSLs and their stadium was publicly financed.

As far as PSL prices, I doubt it would be $1000 for the cheap seats.
That is the expected minimum price for the Giants PSLs, and they are in a much larger market than Minneapolis, and season ticket sales are down anyway.
Looking through the ones that actually list PSL prices form the wiki page, the average is in the $300-$5000 range.
My honest expectation would be close to $300 for the cheap seats, and we will see it increase to about $4000 for the most expensive ones.

You know, at Chicagoland Speedway in Jolliet, they do actually put names on the seats... so who knows. :)
What I do know is that you own the PSL, and can sell it in the secondary market for what ever price you want.
My buddy has rams tickets, and his PSLs are now worth many more times what he originally paid for them.
If he doesn't sell them and doesn't renew his tickets, the PSLs revert back to the Rams, and they can only resell them at their original value.
So you aren't just paying extra for a ticket, you actually own something that can increase (or decrease) in value.

Sorry your just doing a great job with all my questions.
Ok so let's the Vikings get the new stadium, I buy my PSL, then 30 years down the road the vikings decide they need to have floating sky boxes that hover 150 ft over the field but the state refuses to build them a new stadium so they decide to move to LA in 2045, does my PSL transfer to LA or is it worthless or does the team pay me for it, and what price do I get?

I could be wrong though
:-X

Any team can do PSLs.
The Rams have PSLs and their stadium was publicly financed.

As far as PSL prices, I doubt it would be $1000 for the cheap seats.
That is the expected minimum price for the Giants PSLs, and they are in a much larger market than Minneapolis, and season ticket sales are down anyway.
Looking through the ones that actually list PSL prices form the wiki page, the average is in the $300-$5000 range.
My honest expectation would be close to $300 for the cheap seats, and we will see it increase to about $4000 for the most expensive ones.

Hope your right, 300-500 I can come up with quick enough but get up to 800-1000 range and that is going to take some planning. When you buy a PSL do they actually put your name on the seat? Or could I take my seat home between games?
Back on topic though, I got my tickets yesterday(monday 7/7/09), I've never been this excited for football in my life.

What is the meaning of life?
Sorry your just doing a great job with all my questions.
Ok so let's the Vikings get the new stadium, I buy my PSL, then 30 years down the road the vikings decide they need to have floating sky boxes that hover 150 ft over the field but the state refuses to build them a new stadium so they decide to move to LA in 2045, does my PSL transfer to LA or is it worthless or does the team pay me for it, and what price do I get?

I had nothing more to contribute because NP was handling it so well, but I will say this - I have *NEVER* seen that question asked or answered in any discussion of PSLs.
My guess would that you would be fucked, since you are buying a seat at the stadium in Minneapolis and you're fucked if the Vikings move.

Z is correct.
PSLs are for the current stadium only.
That means that if/when the Vikings move into another new stadium another 30 years down the road -in Minnesota or otherwise-, you need to buy PSLs all over again.

You'd be too far away from the action, as they'd have to be located out of the sightlines of the rest of the stadium and likely not be allowed within the infinite "cone" over the bowl at all, due to security concerns.

Now....how about - transparent FieldTurf with premium seating BELOW the field?

Yeah it sounds silly now, but do you think when they were building the dome anyone ever said, "hey we should include private indoor rooms so people can spend hundred of thousands to watch the game on tv while sitting on a couch inside the stadium".

Unfortunately some did.
But Minnesota was bent on a minimalistic approach to the stadium, which is one of the big reasons the stadium became out of date so quickly.

Really? I did not know that,. I thought Luxury boxes were a new trend, they still don't make any sense to me. Why would you want to be in an enclosed room watching the game on tv? Couldn't you get that experience at home(i suppose occassionally they glance out their window to see some live football)? To each their own I guess.

If you plan on buying tickets off of eBay, the Lions game would be a good choice. Demand for those tickets aren't high & you should be able to get tix at a good price.

From what the 2008 fan playbook says playoff invoices are sent in November. The invoice will be for 2 potential home games. Season ticket owners must buy tickets for both games to receive priority. All playoff money for any unplayed games will be credited to the following years season ticket account. You may also request a refund if you don't plan on getting season tickets again.

If I recall correctly it was for two games & the playoff tix were about twice what the face value of the regular season tix were, plus there was an extra fee for shipping & handling I believe.

I bought them in 2004 or 2005 & that money was applied to my season tix the following year.

I think a lot of thought needs to go into how the boxes are designed.
When we go see the FM Redhawks here in Fargo (Minor League Baseball), we sit in my wife's company's suite.
Half is indoors, and half is outdoors overlooking the field.
It is a VERY nice set up, and you still get the service amenities of a suite with the experience of the stands.
The FargoDome is set up similarly.

That being said, I do actually prefer stadium seats over luxury seats for football games.
Mostly because I like the energy and excitement of the crowd.

I've sat in a luxury suite at FedEx for a Redskins game - nice location, too.
The food was pulled pork, the booze (that was provided) was bottom-shelf and Bud/Bud Light and, because it was a cold day, the ladies who were NOT part of MY group insisted that the windows on the front of the box be closed.

While they were closed, it was worse than being at my house and watching the game.
Mainly because there were a whole bunch of people there.
And when I watch at my house, I like to WATCH.

In the 3rd quarter the ladies (and their gents) left, the Redskins started to make a comeback, and we opened up the windows.
It was 100x better - but still not as cool as sitting in the bowl.

The ONLY thing that makes luxury boxes better than the bowl is the bathroom.
And the free shit.
But if you actually want to WATCH a football game, they suck ass, IMHO.

Those luxury suites are all about corporate partnerships and marketing.
Perks for corporate climbers and wanna be upper crusters.
Less likely to have 4 obnoxious, drunk jerks from Green Bay seated directly behind and screaming in your ear the whole game. But certainly less connected to the game.
If the windows were open I could handle the suites. But by and large I prefer being part of the thundering hoard !

I never had the opportunity to enjoy any sort of premium suites..
but will at some point in TCF.
It can't be THAT bad.

Boxes are nice if you get them for free but I would never pay for them. I like to be out in the crowd.

I think there's gotta be a certain reason to use the suites.
Meaning, if you are wanting to converse and hang out with a group, the boxes would be a good place to hang and watch a bit of a game.
But to enjoy the football atmosphere, you gotta be in the bowl!
(or horseshoe in the Goph's case).
