Obama to Vikings fans: 'You guys need to be re-educated' (http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/22868369.html?location_refer=Sports)

By PAUL WALSH, Star Tribune

Barack Obama, noting he was in the midst of Vikings fans while speaking in Fargo this afternoon, suggested that they should instead root for the Chicago Bears....

Eh ... I think he is just having fun. I would say the same thing about the Vikings if I was running for office and was in Chicago.
Of course I would be right ... this is one policy I definitely will not side with Mr. Obama on. Lol.

really, it nothing more than a good marketing decision.
Minnesota has a relatively small market compared to a team like Chicago.
If he can win over Chicago, that will go farther than winning Minnesota.
Why not pick a New York area team you ask?
well, In the Northeast, there are 6 teams, Giants, Jets, Pats, Bills, Eagles and redskins, all with their own large loyal fanbase (with the bills being the smallest)
If you pick one team to try to convert the rest of fans to, there are millions and millions of pissed off fans.
Here there's only relatively few pissed off fans, and most of us are good sports about it, realizing it was just friendly smack talk, besides, he's a bears fan, can't take him too seriously once he starts talking about his team actually being good.

[/bullshit pulled out of my ass]

I think he suggested that Viking fans be reeducated because Bear fans aren't smart enough to be trained.

He´s not smart if he was smart he wouldn´t go there. You can´t say stuff like that and expect people not to take offense... LOL and then we should root for the Bears. Gimme a break

At least he's honest and I respect him for that, some politicians would change their team depending on which area they were speaking in.

Seems kinda dumb to say something along those lines. Root for the Bears...I just don't see that happening.

I have no problem with him rooting for the Bears, and saying "Go Bears".

But "re-educating" us? Come on, you never say that to any fan, let alone a Viking fan. ;D

What do you expect ? But has he ever been to a Bears game, or even watched one on TV ? I wonder... Obama is a Hyde Park elitist. I doubt he even watches NFL games.

LOL, are you guys serious or joking?
I mean who decides who to vote for on the team he roots for,
I mean that sounds as redicules as not voiting for someone based on the color of their skin or gender!

What a stupid remark either way by Obama. In some cases he could have lost votes after such a quote. And being in the state of the home team he is pretty much putting down didn't help him either.....Maybe its the new presidential tactic, he should go to all the states and tell them they should root for chicago or be educated....We'll see how far that goes hahaha

He can like who he wants, but an elitest radical telling people they need to be re-educated is rediculiously arrogant. Retard!

No politics.

At first this thread was ok, but morphed into some political bullshit.
