View Full Version : Gus Frerotte, what the heck is going on here?

Gus Ferotte career QB rating 74.3.
Tarvaris Jackson career QB rating 69.0.

Ok, I saw this news today and thought for sure I was still sleeping and having a nightmare . I am not saying the guy can not still throw the ball halfway decent bit is this the direction we are heading?
Chilly must be seeing something I am not seeing. Yeah ok, the guy has been around since white bread but he has not played in a west coast offense since his days back in Denver back in 2000 and 2001. Man oh man is this the best we can freakin' do? I don't know if it is just me, but doesn't this guy strike anyone as being about half retarted. I mean last year he threw for 7 td's but added 12 interceptions also. I really don't know if TJ, who already needs all the help he can get, is better off because we are bringing this bozo in to mentor him. Maybe I am over-reacting but this does not strike me as as a move in the right direction by a longshot. We all better hope and pray TJ manages to find a way to get things together overnight or this is shaping up to be another long, miserable season, and Lord knows I have seen enough of them....

Sorry Schutz,

I will take advantage of that search feature in the future. I checked back a couple of pages but did not see anything. Thanks for the info.

you seriously throw away a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round draft pick for McNabb, Garcia, or Pennington? lol....

Pennington: First of all, no thanks.. besides, do you really think the Jets would part with him with Clemmens and Ratliff as their only other two QB's on the roster?

McNabb: Sure the guy can still play... but he's no where near as mobile as he was, and never will be again, plus he's plagued with the injury bug.
Besides, the Iggles arn't shopping him, and theres a reason why no other team has made an offer on him, he's not worth the money you'd need to dish out for him at this point in his career.

Garcia: Sure, I would have probably liked it if they brought him in when Johnson was on the way out the door and had Jackson learn behind Garcia. But not now, for two reasons.
First being that he's 38 years old.. and 2nd..

Anyone that we brought in, would be for the #2 spot
Why pay bigger money for a guy past his prime, thats going to do the exact same thing that Frerotte is very capable of doing, and thats mentoring a young QB and provide an adequate alternative if T-Jack goes down.

Why waste another draft pick on a QB?
It would be much better, imo, to pick up a young and promising QB this year in the draft, and go into this year T-Jack, Frerotte, and *Insert rookie here*.
