PP.O name: Shockzilla
Real name: Mike Shockman
Age: 43
Current City: Shakopee, MN
Hometown: Braham, MN
Occupation: Development Support

1) How did you choose your screen name?
Part of my last name (Shock) and I thought the 'zilla' sounded cool with it.

2) shock, could you tell us a little about where you grew up and about your family?
I grew up mostly in Braham, MN, but also have lived in ND, MD, and was born in Moscow, ID. As far as my family, I have ten brothers and sisters, most of whom live in MN, and my wife Jane and I live in Shakopee, MN. No kids yet, however...

3) What type of student where you in High School? Did you play in any sports or where you involved with any school clubs and such?
I was a pretty good student - never honors material, but graduated 12th in a class of 82. I was pretty much a nerd, but I did play basketball and golf. I never went out for football, although I kinda regret that now. I was the lead in a school production of the play"You Can't Take It With You", and was also in the musicals "Oliver" and "My Fair Lady". I was also in 4H and AFS (American Field Service).

4) What did you do after High School?
I spent 6 years in the US Army (Ft. Bliss TX for Basic Training, Ft. Gordon GA for school). I also have held odd jobs here and there. I currently work for Webby.

5)What was your first job?
My first job was working with my father Ken, who owned the local drug store in Braham, MN where I grew up.

6) When did you decide to be such a dedicated fan of the Minnesota Vikings?
Oh, man, that was ingrained in me since I was a young boy. My dad Ken was a HUGE fan, and every Sunday during the season growing up was Viking Sunday. I can't EVER remember missing a game on TV.

7) Could you tell us one of your favorite memories that has to do with the Vikings or one of its past or present players, coaches, etc.
The first game I ever went to was a game against the Rams at old Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington. I think it was a playoff game, and Bobby Bryant ran back a blocked FG for a TD to seal the game.

8}How did you come to find PP.O and what attracted you most to the site?
I was looking for a Vikings site online, and PPO hooked me right away.

9) What other sports teams do you follow?
Well, mostly the MN Twins, and the Wild.

10) When you’re not on PPO what could you likely be found doing with your spare time?
Spending time with my wife Jane; I'm also an avid movie and video game buff, so I see a lot of movies.

W0u0C9Xw1a4

11) Do you say a special prayer before Vikings games?
Nope, I just hope for a win.

12)Where do you watch away Vikings games?
Most of the time at home, but sometimes we go out to local bars and watch games with other fans.

13)What is your worst fear?
Being a failure in life.

14) What type of hobbies do you enjoy?
Golf, movies, video games, reading.

15) What’s your favorite food?
Bread - no doubt. White, sourdough, 12-grain, I LOVE BREAD... :)

16) Where are some of the places you’ve been, and where are some of your favorites.
Texas, Colorado, California, Georgia. I'd have to say the most fun I ever had was a trip to Long Beach, California to visit my wife's uncle a few years back. He paid for a day trip for us to Catalina Island, and we saw Universal Studios in Hollywood, stayed in Santa Monica (The pier was INCREDIBLE).

17) What is one thing you've always wanted to do, but haven't done yet in your lifetime?
Visit Europe, specifically Germany. And Hawaii...

18)If you could live anywhere where would it be?
Minnesota. It's home, and I love it!

19) Do you believe the Vikings will have their big day someday? When they do win the Super Bowl, what will be the first thing you think you will do?
Yes, I do. The first thing I will do is think of my Dad and how he always wanted to see them win the Super Bowl.

20) Up to this date, what is one of your favorite PPO memories?

It has to be spending time with all the wonderful local members, and those that come in from out of town, at the Vikings Draft Parties and at home games tailgating.

At a Shockman family reunion last year in St. Cloud, MN. There were over 150 of us attending.

And let me just say it's nice to know I'm not the only one who loves bread!
;D

And Vikes_King, sometime we'll have to get together and compare notes on movies and video games - I'll take you on in Madden '08, or '09!

I love bread too. Liquid bread. Guinness!

It was great to meet you and Jane last year. You were looking for a title for me back then. Hard to find one that's appropriate I'm sure. Perhaps the benefactor or hit and run poster or asshat would be appropriate!

But in your case I would title you as 'The Class of PP.O'.

Great read. Thanks for all you do for us at PP.O.

Nice to know more about you Shock.

You were the first person I met at the tailgate last year...and the first person I have met from PP.O that looks like their avatar. Nice leather helmet by the way.

So you attended school in Fort Gordon, were you signal?

Also just curious, what do you do for Webby? Is this work related to PP.O or some other business venture ?

I look just like my avatar.
You just can't tell because of the Darth Vader mask.

Vest wrangler.
Basically, he's in charge of all items concerning the care and feeding of the vests.
Hand wash, hang in the Minnesota breezes to dry and then a careful lint removal before he hermetically seals the vests in individual titanium storage cases.
I had the pleasure of witnessing the ceremony once - and I must say, the pomp and circumstance is quite breath-taking.
Akin to the changing of the guard in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Ahh, I was signal also. 31F which was a MSE Node Center Switch Operator at the time...not sure if the Army has MSE anymore. We should ask Marr, he's into that stuff.
My memories of Barton Field are not that great, mainly due to all the laps we use to have to run around that stupid field.

13)What is your worst fear?
Being a failure in life.

Shock, your worried about being a failure? Nonsense! Life will deal you all types of disappointments & setbacks as it does to every player. I know he has dealt you some bad hands, but through it all you survived only to come out a better person for it.

You my friend are far from, nor ever will be a failure.

I keep telling BLV he needs to request pics of the people being interviewed & post them along with the interview.

It's a simple thing to do. You'd think even a caveman could do it.
