Nov 6 ESPN.com reports Minnesota Vikings RB earned a one-time, $2.45 million bonus when he reached 701 yards this season.

Peterson can add $2.5 million to his 2010 salary if he rushes for more then 1,000 yards in two of his first three seasons. If he rushes for 1,300 yards he adds another $1 million to his 2011 salary, which is set to begin at $3.94 million.

If he passes 1,300 yards twice he would add $3 million to the $3.94 million total. If Peterson can rush for 2,000 yards or 20 touchdowns he would add $1 million to his 2011 salary.

Peterson is also eligible for a $250,000 bonus if he is rookie of the year, MVP or Super Bowl MVP. That could possibly allow Peterson to earn $40.5 million through the life of his five-year contract.

You go boy!

I also think there will be negotians in the next 3 or so years

He will want more money upfront

And if he plays like this he deserves it

Adrian Peterson is gonna kill our salary cap in a few years.

He'll be worth every penny.

I think more contracts should be structured to reward performance.

could you imagen the salary cap space we would have at the mo if the whole team was paid like that, maybe the NFL should bring in that idea for every player and team.

Ever hear of the term....."Incentive laden contract"......?

It is kindof common, especially when dealing with old/aged veterans.

i thought the vikings where one of the few teams that do have incentives for every player? isnt it the incentive program?? but i think most of the incentives they have to reach our almost unreachable......... unless your name is AP

And I lay the blame at the players feet.
His agent of choice is the one that negotiates this/those incentives.

I bet (if I was a bettin man) that is why AD took some time to get his contract done.
;D

Pay Peterson.
If he breaks Dickersons record we must restruture his contract.
Pay him well and make sure he is happy.
This will make him want to be a Viking for life.
Thats the most important part.

with the way this kid plays.. his attitude.. his abilities..

he has found a home on the vikings and Wilfy will keep the kid happy!

as the records fall.. his promotions will out pace his salary and he'll be like Jordan.. 50+ mil a year in promo's.. he won't need the money from the contract.

but pay him anyways!!
