That may be a good short term fix.. very intelligent player with limited arm strength...

:o Horrible....He wont ever play, but still. Id rather see us sign Aaron Brooks out of all the shitty QB's in FA.

Oh my gawd....

I guess Mike McMahon wasn't available.

Koy Detmer, career backup...here are his lifetime stats

184 of 354 (52%) for 1944 yards, 5.5 passing yards per attempt (doesn't get much worse than this), 10 TD passes, 14 interceptions.

I guess he's OK handing the ball off.
From what I can surmise, 3-6 as a starter.
His last start came in 2005, where the Seahawks blasted he and the Eagles 42-0.
Detmer apparently was out of football last year.

Does it really matter? This guy will most likely never see the field. This is just an insurance policy.

Agreed, but I would put him in front of Holcomb haha...he is horrible. The IGGLES should have dropped him on his head harder.

More like "Oy!" Detmer.

Where do you suppose he falls on the depth Chart?
Is he #2 behind Bollinger this week if TJ and Holcomb cant go.
Is he #3 behind Tjack and Bollinger and Holcomb is deactivated?

Works for me.
Knows the system.
Guess he's the best band-aid available.

Let's just hope we don't need him.

GO BROOK!

Yes, if T-Jac and Holcomb are out then he will be Bollingers backup.

I say we just get rid of Holcomb now. I hate that guy, he sucks and plays like a puss.

Would he be T-jacks back up in a couple of weeks or would Bollinger keep his back up role?

Funny thing is I dont even think the Vikings have an answer to that question the way the QB's are dropping like flies.

He's just a stop gap QB, Aaron Brooks isn't even familiar with our offense, so if he had to play he wouldn't even know what to do.

Makes sense, though. If you're going to bring in an insurance policy for this week, and all that's available is crap, you pick the crap that has the smallest learning curve.

I really don't think there is a great difference between any of the 4... will just have to go with the hot hand, which currently is Brook.

Chilly shouldn't be afraid to pull any of them.

This story is hilarious... God, Childress is a moron. Just stock-piling mediocre quarterbacks.

The guy must have a learning disability... He pisses me off to no end... This just shows how ill-prepared Chilly was at the beginning of this season... however, this is just one step closer to him being fired... and that makes me happy.

Coincidence that in 2 out of our only 3 wins, our running back had close to 300 yards?
That isn't coaching. In fact, in the other games, it is his fault for not giving AP the ball more. Like when he had less than 20 carries. Peterson is the only one saving his job right now. I feel sorry for the guy, and the rest of the vikings fans when Adrian has a few bad games. Oh, and here is a list. Let me know if I forgot one.

Eagles Rejects Signed as Vikings (not counting Brad Childress)
--------------------------------------
Mike McMahon
Todd Pinkston
Koy Detmer
edit: Billy McMullen and Artis Hicks (thanks tb04512)

Maybe I should be optimistic. The first two worked out phenomenally!

Deer in the Headlights.

Fact of the matter is, he isn't gonna see the field unless something drastic happens. And if that does, then the playbook (in the passing game) will be almost nil.

Secondly, he won't be able to check off of Birks line calls regarding the blitz cause he won't have the terminology figured out.

My call would be BB, TJ and then Detmer if needed.

This guy is just here to run the practice squad cause our QB's are to dinged to do that, let alone start.

The only good thing here is he knows the system.
So did Holcomb.
I don't know behind the scenes but I wonder if they even called Bledsoe.
He would be a better bandaid IMO.
I've seen Detmer play in Philly and it wasn't pretty.

Typically another case of the fan knows best. I remember on this board when everyone called Childress stupid for getting Ferguson, now I see threads where he should be a starter.
I guess I just have to live with the fact that most people on this board will say anything to see Childress gone rather than take a "wait and see" attitude to let the season play out.

I'm in the "wait-and-see" camp...although I'll admit, some of his decisions on the field have me swaying over to the other side.
We'll see if he's truly learned his lesson with AP in the next few weeks...if, say, over the next 3 games, AP has less than 45 rushes...

OMFG Childress is so stupid, he only signs bad players from the Eagles and he loves them and gives the so much playingtime its insane..

Come on guys..

He signed Todd Pinkston but cut him after like a week in training camp when he wasnt god enough.
He traded for Billy McMullen to be a 4th or 5th reciever, he was just that, had 2 touchdowns and some good third down pickups along the way as i remember.
He signed Mike McMahon and he played 1 preseason game and was cut when he wasnt good enough
He traded for Artis Hicks, the only bad Eagles pickup he gave playing time.
He signed Kelly Holcomb, a guy who never played a game for the Eagles and only was in camp with them.

People are way overreacting on this Eagles"mania". Its just a guy who picks up guys he trust. Its seen all over the league that coaches sign players who they already know what stands for.

Koy Detmer will proberly never see the field and yet people are going crazy about this signing. When Holcomb is ready to go again, Detmer will be cut, no brainer.

"Why not sign Aaron Brooks"
- Well you dont sign Aaron Brooks to be the third string QB on the team and he without a doubt would ask for more money than Detmer, this is just a pretty standard pickup.

I wouldnt say i like or dont like it, because it is not going to make a difference anyway.

No my friend.

The spreadsheet if based on my perception of said poster and in no way contains metric data to supstantiat said opinion.

Suffice it to say that I have a memory like a steel trap (sometimes its rusted shut) to track things like this and I don't ever remember telling Skum that.

:o Horrible....He wont ever play, but still. Id rather see us sign Aaron Brooks out of all the poohie QB's in FA.

He's just a stop gap QB, Aaron Brooks isn't even familiar with our offense, so if he had to play he wouldn't even know what to do.

Man Stallion that made me laugh (thanks). And anyway, does he ever know what to do when the pressure comes?
