Does anybody else think we should pick this guy up? I know I have hated him for years, but I think he is still a pretty good kicker and he could kick figgies and do kickoffs for us. Just wondering what your opinions are.

I say definitely pick him up for kickoffs.. and when Morten starts to slide then Gramatica can fill in.

Pick him up for kickoffs.

Yup , Yup, I think we should try to bring him in for kickoffs then like GQ said let him try the long field goals when in need. I would feel much more comfortable with him at the helm, then cortez.

I saw him kick a 65 yarder in college and he kicked a 56 yarder earler this year. He has got a leg that will at least get to the endzone. Put Cortez on the first FedEx truck out of town.

LOL -- yeah, I got my Cortez jersey too. I keep mine framed on the wall so it won't get dirty.

I'm not sure how far Gramatica can kick the ball on kick-offs, but I am concerned about our chances if we need a 45+ yard field goal to win a game. So, I say bring him in and at least see what he can do.

Cortez put one in the endzone Sunday and the crowd was louder for that than Randy's TD

i thinkd we should definately pick him up for the playoffs. how can longer kickoffs and another kicker incase something crazy happens or the field goals 2 long be bad. u never know... he could win us an imortant game.

He cost me 700 dollars on Sunday. I had nine games right on a Ten team parlay..and the Bucs were the tenth. All they had to do was win by 2.5. He missed a chipshot to win the game. We don't need that loser.

Isn't he too young to be a part of our kicking game...

If he still has that kind of leg, I say ship him in Priority Air Next Day and ship out Cortez Second Day Ground. See ya Cortez! :salute: :salute: :salute:

i would much rather have him instead of Cortez not to mention he will be playing inside which would help us out immensly

We for sure need to pick this guy up. It's been ages since we had a dependable FG kicker (I guess since Gary Anderson had a leg) and he is one. He is in a big time slide for sure but I will be extremely dissapointed if he isn't in a Vikings uniform this Sunday. What happens if with 10 secs left in the game on 4th and 10, we need a FG to win it? It's almost not possible right now with the Cortez/M. Anderson combo.

Welcome to the board, 84>TO!!! I like your screen name, simple but to the point! Maybe we can pick up Gramatica, use him for kickoffs while restoring his confidence in making FGs this year, and then use him next year for both FGs and kickoffs, making Morton expendable...I am sure that the Vikes could use the extra roster spot for another special team player, one who could also back up a position player on offense or defense.

Switch him for Cortez, but the guy has no confidence. He is like an older Aaron Elling.

Gramatica has been extremely inconsistent the past two seasons. There is a reason he was cut, folks.

I'll have to do some research on his kickoffs.

Sign him and sign him know. He is much better then Cortez. Maybe he missed some clutch field goals but we dont need him for anything besides kickoffs and if we feel like going for a FG over 45, which with our offense we shouldnt have to worry about.

He was 2 of his last 9 FG attempts. We're not talking 50+ yarders either. He has missed some chipshot non-clutch attempts. He has lost it and I think he is also hurt and not telling anyone about it.

OMG - Just read that Grammatica hasn't made a field goal of longer than 22 yards since Oct. 10. 22 yards is the same distance as an extra point. He is done!

If he can still kick it into the end zone on kickoffs, who cares about his misses? We already have Morton for FGs...we only need someone like Gramatica for touchback kickoffs...and we would only be renting him until the end of the season, not for the whole year!

For anyone interested TB's website had a favorable article on Gramatica. The first paragraph said:

Though he had to announce the ‘emotional’ decision to release Martin Gramatica, General Manager Bruce Allen felt certain that the veteran kicker would eventually regain his form

It sounds like he was a popular player. For anyone interested in the rest of the article here's the link:

He did kick a 53 yrd FG this season.

Looks as if he hasn't healed from an injury to his hip.

If he can get the ball into the Endzone, we need him. Let him recover over the summer and he can kick for us next year. That would be great. He would love it indoors.

Does anyone know if he gets it to the Zone?
