Nomination list for Class of '08 (http://www.profootballhof.com/enshrinement/story.jsp?story_id=2586)

Cris should be a first ballot Hall of Famer and I will be there when he is enshrined.
Hopefully some fellow PP.O members can share in the celebration as well.
Mark your calendars and get a flight folks!
It's going to be awesome!

Carter just can't stop reeling them in, even after his playing days were up.

Sweet, we can finally meet.

I have been there about 4 times in the last 10 years and just love it.
They have really done a lot to the place to enhance it.

Make sure you take a picture of OJ's bust.
After the whole murder thingy, somebody stole it from the HoF and found it alongside the highway.
LOL!

I have a picture of all the Vikings busts somewhere.
They used to have them all lined-up at chest level so you could get you face next to the bust.
Now they are kinda stacked and some are too high up.
I will let somebody sit on my shoulders and we can take a photo that way.

Just think, a whole gang of Vikings fans at the HoF.

Heck, when people come you should all stay in the same hotel.
Heck, I would even rent a room and we can have on helluva party.

Unfortunately, I've not many any of y'all.

I have met Cris Carter, and spent some time with him...he's as focused off the field (when working) as he was on it.
I am (guaranteed) one of his biggest fans, not just because of his accomplishments on the football field.
He is, or should be, an inspiration to us all...A rare MAN, who made mistakes when young (we all did), learned from them, was motivated by them, got his priorities aligned, and made his distinct mark in his profession...and, his family.

I will be there for his induction, with bells on.
Cris Carter is a symbol, an example of improvement we should all, not necessarily admire (he hates that), rather, we should look at ourselves and introspect.
He embraced his responsibilities, is a dogged worker, a class act, not to mention one of the funniest people I have ever met.
I can't wait.
The first "modern day" Vike in the HOF...awesome!!!

This is a great thread and even a better idea Ultra....

I'll say this now, if I'm not in the Philippines by then, and able to get around after my surgery, I will seriously think about going for sure.
I've never been to the NFL HOF, but have always wanted to and have said, one day I will. What could be a better day than not only seeing the HOF but being at CC's
inagural.
Would love to see Randal McDaniel make the final list also...That would be a sweet double header.

I'm sure my son and wife would enjoy it also......

If not,
when I do, I'll be sure to let you know I'm on the way Ultra.
Again, thanks for even thinking about and putting out this great chance to have another fine PPO gathering.

Canton, Ohio. Heck yes, if Carter makes it, I'll be there. Are we gonna have the PP.O Tent set up somewhere so we all know where to meet? I know you can buy tour packages from the NFL and there will be a tour from Minneapolis if Carter gets in. The package includes tickets to the enshrinement dinner the night before and other stuff. I don't have a clue what it costs.

That would be awesome.

I don't mean to be a pessimist but what if Carter would be the one the hold off on to let Monk into the hall.
LOL!
Carter is a first ballot guy but the love for Minny is lacking at times.

I would love to go also.

What we could do, if there were enough of us we could all stay in the same hotel and maybe rent out a conference room.
I have no idea what they cost but if we divided-up the cost we could cover it.
We would have a fricken blast like you would never believe.

The Cities is only 11 hours from Canton and the East Coast folks are not far.
I know we have a lot of Ohio members on the site as well.
Who cares, we'll take any Viking fan!
Man, what a blast that would be.

As time gets near I will look into hotels and such.
People could fly into the Akron/Canton airport as opposed to Cleveland.
Hell, I would be happy to pick people up.
There are a lot of arrangements we could make.

Just think, I whole hord of PP.O members at the Hall of Fame.
It would never be the same again!

ENSHRINEMENT PACKAGES (http://www.sportstravelandtours.com/tripsdetail.cfm?id=427)

Let me tell you, if you plan to attend you need to reserve waaaaayyyyyy in advance.
This stuff goes really quick.
If you have to go on ebay or a broker...expensive as hell.

I think I would go with the Enshrinement Memories Package (http://www.sportstravelandtours.com/tripsdetail.cfm?id=739).
I could care less about the game on Sunday, I just want to go to the enshrinement.
I may even try to put my deposit down soon.

That was for the hotel too.

Yes he does.

As much as the off-field stuff and the turn-around was great, the pro football HOF is all about on the field performance.
Jerry Rice had better numbers.
But when Carter retired, nobody else did.
The numbers were there because he had hands, concentration, and instinctive body control like no one else.
Who did the sideline catch better?
No one was or is close.
On the field, he was one of the top 5 WRs of all time.

I don't think the rings thing is a big deal for a WR.
It helps everyone if they've got them, but the QB is the position where it is really counted.
Carter's numbers and greatness on the field make up for any lack of rings.

A few have been mentioned, but Roger Craig played for us for awhile.
Obviously not his best years, and he wouldn't go into the hall as a Viking.

This came up in another thread, but I blame Sid Hartman.
He's responsible for arguing the case for Vikings players.
I've heard that he's not very good at it and that the other representatives don't like him.
This is just from some random articles long ago I don't have links to.
Very reliable stuff.

But if you've seen him on the Sunday Sports Show, I think you'll understand.

I actually have a vague memory that he wasn't able to make it in one of the recent years, and that was essentially the catalyst for getting in either Yary ('01) or Kraus ('98), as someone else made the presentation.
Again, trust my memory at your own peril.
Trust Sid Hartman and imperil us all.

Very good stuff my friend.
Very good stuff indeed.
Maybe my email was directed at the wrong local sports hack.

;D

Nomination list for Class of '08 (http://www.profootballhof.com/enshrinement/story.jsp?story_id=2586)

With all due respect to Cris Carter and his accomplishments, but until the Pro Football Hall of Fame gets their collective heads outta their dimply buttocks and puts Mick Tinglehoff and Jim Marshall in there, I won't be spending one cent on anything HOF-related.

This is good news. Cris Carter is my all time favorite NFL player. I like his attitude, he made great sideline catches and played every single down with passion. cheers

Take a look at this caption from the CNNSI.com posting of the AP article before they change it(link (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/nfl/10/30/bc.fbn.halloffamenomine.ap/index.html)):

Cris Carter went to eight straight Super Bowls with the Vikings.

I guess we were a lot better than I remember in the 90's.

Wow.
I know that there are parts of the 90's that are foggy, but I didn't think my memory was that bad.

So I take it waiting until they make the nnouncement on Super Bowl Saturday will be too late?
