Wasn't Cortez on the roster for a portion of last year? I still think the Vikings need a proven good kicker for those 40+ yard field goals. I was watching Morten kick during pregame warmups and some of his field goals were barely making it over the crossbar from 40 yards out. A couple did not even make it in the 40 + range. At least he made the two he was asked to do.

I think he may have been for a little bit. I read an article that said we were looking for kickers and it said former Viking Jose Cortez so I guess he did, but that's all I know about him.

Also, it said Travis Dorsche was the leading candidate because he was with us for a while at the beginning of the season, but he was inconsistent in his first workout. It said he was gonna get another workout today, but that must not of gone well either.

I went to college with Cortez... watched him kick some 55+ FG's there. Had a big leg, just not super consistent.

Hmm. Did you know him jackyl? Didn't he use to play for San Fran too?

Wasn't friends with him, but saw him around campus alot and watched every college game he played. He played for SF, as well as NY and Washington before his first stint with the Vikes.

I just want someone to do what Elling did, he was kicking better and better on kickoffs. Just need someone to come in and feel in for elling.

It would be great to have someone that can get it in the end zone.

Yea San Fran cut him he missed a bunch of FG's. I think actually he sucks.
Hopefully the time off has done him some good.

Anyone remember Todd France? He was with us for awhile last year in the preseason. He was with the Giants during this last preseason. He battled with whoever they have now and barely lost the job. He looked really good in the preseason (kicked a few 50+). We should have given him a shot this week. Ironically, we chose Elling over him last year (or should I say Tillman chose him over France). But in reality, when we talk of warm-up kicks, I saw Elling kicking easy 50+ yarders last year before the Cardinal game. Kicking is an enigmatic position. To have a good kicker is priceless.

I think he got hurt so the Giants cut him.
