A trade just might make sense for both parties.
Brett Favre would love to have Larry Johnson, and the Packers would properly pay Johnson.
The Chiefs could pick up a few draft picks.

I bet they would riot in Kansas City if that deal went down.

Hmm I dont see it happening because I don't see KC relying on Kolby Smith and/or Bennet to start.
I would think Morency would have to be delt too.

WOW I cant see this happening. the chiefs offense wouldnt be any good. Already no QB and then no RB, and their defense isnt the best, they would be just a useless team.

That trade would make sense for the PAckers, but why would the Chiefs trade their MVP right before the season?
Isn't it a bit early to be giving up?

I don't believe it is a matter of the Chiefs giving up.
More that the Hunt's do no like to pay out the kind of guaranteed money that it will take to keep him.

This idea was brought up a few weeks ago on PFT, and the idea kinda fizzled out there too.

Why get Johnson when they have the oppotunity to get Steve Slaton with the first pick of the 2008 NFL Draft?

It would be giving up considering the enormous portion of the offense that LJ accounts for and the considerable lack of playmakers (outside of Gonzalez) on the KC offense.

no chance of that happening

I love Slaton, but you must mean Darren McFadden...

How many backs have we seen the Broncos go with in the past 10 years.
They all reached a high level of success.
I think LJ is a great back, but sometimes the scheme has alot to do with it also.

Holy pooh, your thread is very misleading.
This is a writer's opinion not based on anything somebody said.
You title this thread as if it was a possibility per the Chiefs.

Misleading threads suck!

Well, the title of your thread makes it seem like it is a possibility.

It's the same thing as me writing, "Manning to the Vikings" and people coming here and telling others they read it on the internet.
Its just some schelps opinion.

Even though the Packers have a ton of cap room, I'm not sure they would be willing to pay Johnson the kind of money he is expecting.
Maybe, if the Packers were only an RB away from being a legitimate SB contender...or Favre were three years younger...

At any rate, I could actually see this trade potentially happening, especially if the Packers threw in their 2nd round RB from Nebraska.
Gotta give the Chiefs something to work with.
My guess is though that the Packers are too cheap to pay LJ that kind of money as well, and will try to get it done with a cheaper option like their 2nd rounder and Morency (assuming he's still a Packer).

And as others have noted, this is merely a writer giving his two cents.
It's not as if anyone on either side has suggested this trade.

this isnt even a trade rumor..its just something some random newspaper columnist came up with all on his own..no legs to it whatsoever
