Locking up veteran Williams should be priority for Vikings (http://www.realfootball365.com/nfl/articles/2007/06/vikings-patwilliams-priority150607.html)

...Minnesota not only can but should sign the 11-year veteran to the extension he wants. Some may point to his age or body type as a reason to be wary, but Williams' two seasons with the team have arguably been the best of his career....

How can anyone argue against a team leader like Pat?

QUOTE
In May, he told a Minnesota newspaper: "I just want to be treated right because I always do what's right. I never complain and I come to work on time. I don't have any problems playing for coach Childress. I love (defensive line coach Karl) Dunbar. I think he's the best D-line coach in the league. I love playing next to Kevin. I want to finish my career here.

I think they will get a deal done but might wait until the season is in progress. Childress wants a deal done so it will get done.

Yes, i'm definately all for lockin' up Pat Williams for a while longer.
He is a solid ballplayer that has a great attitude and work ethic.
He deserves a bump up in the pay scale IMO.
On another note...why is brad johnsons picture still plastered on the top of the site between twill and winfield?

Thank you Tom Donahoe, I am glad you thought he could not play any longer.
IO hope we reward Pat with a 3 year contract.

I believe what he meant was as long as they don't lock him up like Tank JOHNSON got locked up.
Not Tank Williams.

I also think they should pay the man and extend him for 3 years, even though his numbers have slipped a bit since he peaked in 2002/2003 he seems to be a good compliment to Kevin.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/splits?playerId=1356

I also think they should make sure when situations like this arise with aging vets that we don't overpay/get locked into contracts that will bite us in the long run no matter how much he has done for us in the past
