a great post from our email discussion list I thought I would share:

Remember that Tice talked about a surprise within Free Agency which we would all be happy about. I think that the Vikes may have a card up their sleeve involving our secondary. Maybe Knight or Lassiter? Either way, the draft was a success.

Kevin Williams DT #1 Pick (Oklahoma State)
** Number 1 inside PASS rusher in college football.
** 6' 4" 305 llbs...Has more height and speed than Kennedy or Suggs.
** Remember Hovan is not a tall guy. We need someone on the line that can knock
passes as well.
** Played in the Big 12, arguably the best conference for College Football compared
compared to Kennedy who played one of the easiest schedules in the Big 10
and Suggs who plays for a weak Pac-10 Conference.
** Has enough speed and experience to play Defensive End

E.J. Henderson MLB #2 Pick (Maryland)
** Considered the best inside linebacker in college football
** Winnder of Bednarik Award as nation's top defensive player
** Won the Butkus Award as the most outstanding linebacker in college football.
** Fast, furious and tenacious. Excellent vision and anticipation
** Did anyone see this guy in the Peach Bowl? Wow!
** Only negative was that at the end of 2001 he was coming off a back injury which
was why he didn't enter the 2002 draft.

Nate Burlenson WR #3 Pick (Nevada)
** 6' 197 llbs
** Biletnikoff Finalist, 1st Team All-American, 1st team All-WAC conference
** Caught 138-1,629-12 with a 95 yard catch in 2002 and ran 22-120-1 in 2002
** 421/2 inch vertical leap!!!!
** Good route runner with great hands

Onterrio Johnson RB #4 Pick (Oregon)
** Started all 10 games in 2002 running 1,141 yards
** Returned 7 kickoffs for 175 yards
** Runs low and has ability to make defenders miss
** Quite possibly the biggest steal in the draft

Eddie Johnson P #6 Pick (Idaho State)
** Ranked the #1 Punter in the draft
** In 2002 averaged 46.2 yards on 51 punts..No blocked kicks
** Back-up quarterback in college who knows how to throw the ball
** Known for powerful leg

Mike Nattiel OLB #6 Pick (Florida)
*** Played in every game the past 3 years
** 136 tackles and 6 passes broken up in 2002
** Very fast, Very aggressive

Keenan Howry WR #7 Pick (Oregon)
** All Pac-10 honors in 2001 as a receiver and punt returner
** 40 catches for 784 yards averaging 19.6 yards per catch
** Very quick, great return man

Very good draft as far as I am concerned. Best we have had in a long time.
