Pray Jackson can make a big enough stride in the offseason to play to his full potential?

I say trade HHH Metrodome and the mayor of Minnesota for Peyton Manning

Trade up to #1, draft Quinn, drop Henson.

Any more easy questions?

Uffda.
That will take a lot of prayers.
I am going to start now just in case. :)

As someone so adequately posted in another thread (correcting me of course).....

B-chill has the confidence of the owner and doesn't have to produce a winner next year.
His timeline is probably 2008/2009 season to start pulling it all together and winning consistently.

With that said, he has this year to groom his QB.
So to answer your question, he will play TJ and be happy grooming him.

Some of the Naysayers on here won't like that much though.
You'll be able to figure out who they are.
Just look at the stickers on thier car.
They will be the ones that have the 49'rs sticker covered by a Dallas sticker covered by a Raiders sticker covered by a Vikings sticker that will be covered by a Packers sticker.
When asked they will say they bleed red/grey/blue/purple/green.

Del, I know I didn't quote you exactly. He can go find the thread himself

I would be so pissed if we traded up to number 1 to grab Quinn.
If we take him at seven, thats one thing.

Certain members are in denial....our QB position is far from solid, but we haven't really seen what Jackson can do, he may surprise us this year. I doubt any QB we bring in will do smuch different then Jackson or Johnson last year if we don't bring in decent WRs.

I think the plan is to bring in many young WRs via the draft, and possibly from 'camp cuts'.

This is the 'what if we bring in no QB' thread.
Take your WR addition theories to the 'what if we add no WRs?' thread!
We can only examine one disaster scenario at a time, not simultaneously, pairwise.

{ sarcasm off }

Back to my point; the Vikings are not going to avoid WRs in the draft.
They won't avoid ading good quality vet WRs cut after the draft.
So, the issue is which QB has the most potential; TJackson, BBollinger or DHenson?

I'm not convinced that Childress is confident that TJackson will pan out.
Otherwise, why waste a trip to view Quinn's pro day in person?
I never bought into the idea that coaches are intentionally trying to send incorrect info about their draft plans.
I could see making vague statements, as it doesn't cost anything, and can't be used to criticize them later if they make a conflicting move.

To up the trade value of our pick would be one of the biggest reasons. Or he could just be trying to be tricky and fool people into believing their not interested in other players, many teams hold workouts and go to workouts for players they don't draft, and then they draft a player they had no "public interest" in at all. I don't believe Troy Willamson ever worked out publicly once for the Vikings. Its hard to say that the fact that they hold workouts or go to workouts for a player mean that they actually are seriously considering drafting that player.

The more I surmise, the more I believe that signing NO QB is probably the most likely scenario. If you trade picks to move up and take a QB last year in the 2 round, you have pretty much made up your bed with that pick. Recognizing that THAT pick was a project, you can bring in a veteran, but not a young one. Unless we sign Trent Green, not trade for him, there are no likely candidates. If Chill wants to bring in competition, it will be another draft pick. Then he can claim to have projected both. In the 7 hole, that would be...Quinn. I doubt that, unless he thinks he can trade him later. I think we will draft a defensive player (I think I prefer Landry), then a WR, and then some other project QB in later rounds. O lord, let Chill be a knowin what he is a doin.

davike

O lord, let Chill be a knowin what he is a doin.

So far I would say he has done great, he got some great players in later rounds. We havn't seen his first round pick play but he will probably do well. And he also did great in free agency last year, he brought in some good players for a good price. I wanted him to be a little more aggressive this year, but I have faith in him.

HornedHat
03-29-2007, 11:29 PM
I don't have a problem with Chill, so far; but, his whole reputation, as it stands now, will be directly related to TJack. A great QB and a Great Coach are usually joined. I believe the Master Bud Grant said something along these lines, though I am not using his exact words, because I can't recall them, but it was in reference to Tark. It is rare for a great QB to be considered great without a Great coach(Archie), it is even rarer for a great coach to not have a great QB. I can't even think of an example, unless I want to consider Billick a great coach.

I heard this second hand from my Bro.
He saw something about a month ago on FSN that had Chilly saying that 2 qbs would be fine, and everyone would see that it would be alright.

Take into consideration, that this is kind of like telephone.
I am just repeating what I remember hearing from something that they remembered hearing.
Take it for what it is worth, probably best not to repeat it. LOL!

Anybody see this episode of Vikings Weekly?
Anyone shed some light?

What if we sign NO QB?

I honestly don't think we will. Childress will stick with what he has; T-Jack, Bollinger (signed thru 2008) & Drew Henson. He will sink or swim with T-Jack.

And if our receivers drop passes thrown by the young T-Jack, IMO it could mentally affect his game & be detrimental to his developement.

If Quinn drops to #7, I'm expecting Childress will trade away the pick to acquire more pics. Look for him to target DB's & later round WR's.
