Whack was talking about Elling, and it made me think of how bad the Special Teams has performed. Anderson is solid right now..but Kickoffs are bad. And the return team hasn't done anything in a while. Cambell's return was nice, but nullified.

Can anyone  remember when the last time there was a kick return for a Touchdown by us? I remember seeing Moss return a Punt against the Chiefs back in 99, but I can't recall the last time there was a kick return for a TD. I would have to guess Palmer in 98, perhaps? My memory seems scarred from from that Giants, NFC championship game, and the likes of Troy Walters.

Campbell last week but it was nullified, now that is an opps.

I can't remember, it seems like a long long time ago.

Didn't Walters have one????? When did he play for us last?

wasnt there a game a few years ago, where a vike ran a kickoff back for a TD, and then on the very next kickoff a lion ran one back on us? for some reason that sticks in my mind.

I believe that was the 98 game against the ravens in which we ran one back and then on the ensuing kickoff someone from the ravens took it back. Crazy plays on special teams but as you know we won that game. :D

Hey Hovan... I hate to say this man, and it's not a big deal, but your smilies don't work. I think you need to get your smiley button fixed.

I don't really worry about our returns, I worry about the field position that opposing teams seem to be getting. I amy be way off here guys, but it seems like opponents are starting past the 40??? We need to put it deep, and have our gunners kill these guys!

I agree with that. I wish we had someone who could put the ball into the end zone on the kickoff. At least make them start from the 20.

True that in a big way, we have yet to let a team score when they start inside their own 20 yard line. That means not many team have drove the whole 80 yards on us. Then again how many time have teams started in there own 20. We have got to stop letting teams get great field position, thats hard on our defense.

Solution: get rid of Elling, that wimp...and go out and find someone who can boom it...all we need them for is kickoffs anyway, so it can be almost anyone who has a strong leg...why did we get rid of Conway in the first place...his prior stints with other teams as a kickoff specialists have shown that he can kick 'em pretty deep...or at least my memory is of that being the case.

It seems breathing is hard on our defense. I expected more from them this year.

Tice seems to think hang time is what matters. Bet that is so. Last I heard, in Tice's PC's Ellings hang time was good, for the most part. Who was the guy kicking off in, I think the late 90's? The punter, I think. Wish we had someone like that still. I do agree that letting the other team walk into great field position is really hurting us. My question is, is it coverage or the kicks? And Kelly Campbell is a ton of fun. Those little passes to the side, and his kickoff returns have SOOOO much potential. Bet it happens for him more than once this year. Hovan, whatever became of David Palmer? I loved him, and was happy as can be, when they locked him up for five years. Then he hurt his knee, and never came back. Was it just a really bad one or what? He did a great job, doing what Moe does now, third down specialist, goal line, etc.
