Why would we sign up to torch someone who raised a valid thought about the future of Tarvaris Jackson?
As far as I can see, he posted the idea that a small school kid, who transfered after failing to beat out a guy who isn't even in the NFL for the starting job at a major school, is a long shot.

He's right.

Unless Tarvaris makes amazing progress this week and over the course of the off season, he may wind up being exactly what the experts called him when we drafted him, a 5th rounder taken way too soon.
Viking fans are desperate for him to be a success because our QB prospects SUCK if he isn't what we all hope and pray that he is.

The funny part is, none of us have any reason to think he will be.
His stats from college don't scream "Future NFL Star".
He wasn't even the best QB in his conference...the guy who was isn't in the NFL.

People point to McNair and say, "HE was from a small school too".
Yeah, he was.
And while at the small school, he absolutely TORCHED anyone he faced.
He threw for about a million yards per game.
He had an obvious upside.
Try as I might, I haven't found anything about Tarvaris that would be considered a prime indicator of future NFL success in his history.

Now, I HOPE that the "Tarvaris Jackson Project" pans out...I really do.
If it does, yay team!!!
If not, then Fran Foley looks like a bigger dork than he already does...and we're still without a QB.

Still, I think the smart money would be to go after Schaub in Free Agency this off season and make damn sure we have a starting quality QB on the roster before the season begins.
Then send Tarvaris to NFLE and let him get some experience.
