I know this is really out of the blue becuz the Vikes had a nice win 2day but i was watching Big Leonard Davis at LT 2day and he really did good handlingRay Edwards except 4 the 1 sack Ray had 2 day and i was wonderin if i was the only 1 that would love 2 c him in a Vikes uniform next yr as our new RT instead of Marcus Johnson, or overrated and overpayed Mike Rosenthal. He's and upcoming fee agent and i really think we should go after him hard 2 solidify our O-Line instead of just having 1 side stronger than the other.

Here's some info about him:

Position: T
Height: 6-6
Weight: 366
Born: 09/05/1978
College: Texas
NFL Experience: 6

Here's a list of his strengths and weaknesses

(From Scouts, Inc): Physically has everything you would want in an offensive tackle - big, powerful, with the ability to absolutely be dominating as run blocker. Has the size and wing span to engulf defensive linemen and be overpowering at the point of attack. Will wear down defenders over the course of a game. Good at short area pass protection, holds his ground against bull rushers and will stun DE's with a good initial punch. But he doesn't slide very well on pass protection, struggles to redirect and can be beaten by double moves. Not real comfortable in space. Fits best in the role of a solid and physical run blocker who can also provide good inside pass protection vs. slower and more physical defensive linemen. Kind of a crossroads in his career because he's not producing enough for the money he makes.

I say if Rosenthal or Cook get the job done and play well the rest of the year, keep them. They both seemed to do very well today, so I'm not worried about RT until they screw up (which may or may not be coming). Both of those guys are major upgrades over Johnson though, that's for sure.

I would LOVE to have him. Huge guy and has been shuffled around to every position on the o-line. Would make a great right tackle for us.

If we could sign him and maybe chris dielman this free agency our o-line would be set.

Probably would cost us too much money...but we probably DO need an upgrade on the right side...UNLESS Cook can step up!
Rosey is getting a little too long in the tooth to be the future for us at RT.

I do not think the team will be able to dump more money in the offensive line.
Hard to justify putting that much money in there and leaving other positions vacant with talent.
Everybody is screaming for a big time WR; they cost money.

to me it would depend on how much money he wants. there might be some great free agents out there.

1. Lance Briggs

2. cato june

3.michael lewis

4. nate clements

5. Leonard Davis

We need someone who catch a ball first.
Today was the first time in awhile that we actually did that.

Why not just put all of our salary cap into the offensive line?

because, italian, that wouldnt sell tickets.
;D

Imagine if we actually had a great WR this year. the running game would be opened up even more (gah, imagine chestor running w/out 8 guys in the box!), the big play potential would keep defenses (and us) on our toes, and BJ would have a lot of heat taken off of him = the threads about TJack and benching Brad would be GONE!!!

We're probably going to have a good amount of cap space again this year. As long as spielman is there we will be one of the top cap space teams. If we could afford getting a good guard/tackle and picking up Jarrett in the draft (the FA WR's suck btw) we would be in a good scenario. There aren't too many other positions we really need to concentrate on that can't be adressed in the draft.

if only it was that easy. alot of teams are probably going to pay a pretty penny to this guy, and i'd rather not try to match their offers. i'd prefer moving up or getting a stud WR in the draft. (i really jumped on the ginn bandwagon watching his highlight reel, but if there is ANY way to get calvin johnson after the combine then i say why not.

He's my #2 choice, I would rather get Max Starks in RFA from the Steelers.

They don't spend a lot of money on anyone, ever, so I think we could pull him away from the steelers for pretty cheap, and he's young and always has played RT.

But I'd definitely take big Leonard as well.

Sure why not because when I think of great offensive lines oh yeah I think the Arizona Cardnals the team with one of the worst in football and people think one of their guys should improve us? Also the Steelers don't have to pay big money to Starks right away Mr. Anderson a first round tender for a RFA is less then 2 million and nobody is going to go after him when and if they do.

great players can play on crappy teams.

he's obviously going to be very sought after, and with good reason.

I am more worried about the play of Bryant McKinnie right now!

We just signed him to a 7 year deal for 48 million with 17 million guaranteed and he is playing like crapp!
He is getting beat about every 4th play and has gotten Brad killed a few times.

If he doesn't start playing better what do we do with him?

Would AZ be willing to do a sign and trade for Davis?

Great point. Mount McKinnie is playing like a moe hill this year. Doubt anyone would pick up his Mountain sized salary even if he was playing better. Vikes have the players on the O line (if McKinnie starts playing), but seriously need receivers and yes I mean more than one.
