I believe Chicago will pick apart our secendary.

What do we have to focus on to win?

If we win this game we can build up some real momentum, and can really help us get into the playoffs.

We need to focus on making as little mistakes as possible, Chicago can generate loads of turnovers and whatever team that wins the turnover battle may win the game.

We absolutely need to pressure Rex Grossman and force him to make mistakes, because most likely the Bears won't be running it to often, so the game may be in his hands.

Our O needs to show up and at least have a decent game, this will be another major factor in the game.

All in all, I feel we can beat the Bears, hell we should of beaten them last time.

I agree, we can beat them.
The Vikings match up well with them.
The Dolphins started their run with taking them down with their D.
Very doable.

Focus on getting to Grossman. We know we can stop the run and our secondary is weak, so take away the pass at the point of origin.

Then watch Grossman make mistakes.

Totally agree.Back in the days when the Vikings had a pass rush,I remember announcers saying they "stopped the run on the way to the quarterback".I'd like to see them get back to that somehow.

I don't think Chicago has the personnel to pick us apart. No way will they be able to run against us, that's obvious, but with Grossman at quarterback, after throwing another 3 picks today, I don't think he'll be able to get rid of the turnover bug long enough to pick us apart.

The whole season pretty much comes down to this game. I can't wait.

Grossman was responsible for four turnovers today, we need to keep that trend up.
This is going to be a great game, no doubt.
Hopefully Childress has the boys all fired up and ready to go.

we have a small
shot. we only lost by 3 to chicago in week 3 but we were playing better than. we did win today but they were no bears. brad has not
had 2 good games in a row since week 3.
the bears are a great team. the vikings are a good team.
I think we when make the playoffs as a wild card

We have a chance if Grossman keeps screwing up.
You can throw int's so long where it catches up to you.

This Vikings team matches up pretty well with the Bears and may just beat them next week.
The problem is the only teams that beat the Bears play a very physical game. I haven't seen that from this Vikings team.
Also the Bears have a great special team and we have a poor special team.
We have poor blocking and poor coverage.
And though it is blasphemy to say, Longwell kicks line drives that are short on kickoffs. That puts pressure on already poor coverage teams.
The reason I think the Vikings can beat them is because their QB sucks.
But if our D line doesn't start rushing even he can beat us.
A brick wall could be number one against the run; but it doesn't have much effect on the passing game.
It's time to get pissed and knock some opposing blockers on their backs.
If Udeze's job is outside containment, he's doing a fine job!
Neither end is producing. I think there needs to be more rotation to spell these guys or a 3rd down pass rush specialist needs to be utilized more. That's one thing Mike Tice did do well!
There were some positives in the Arizona game. But the only positive change I see that will carry over to the Chicago game is the right side of the O-line play,Robinson as the primary receiver, and Smoot played better/tried harder.
I liked the play where Cook put his man on his back.I think that was a third down conversion.
Oh yeah, one last thought regarding the O-line. Some one has to pick up the blitz. We seem to do it on a part time basis. A delayed blitz always seems to work against us.

As I said in another thread, they need to force Grossman into a pressure situation.
I've seen often that when he's under pressure, he'll throw off his back foot, causing him to loft the ball and give the defender time to get under the ball and possibly make a play.
Might be a plausible solution.

ItalianStallion
11-27-2006, 12:46 AM
They key to winning will be our pass defense.
It goes without saying that we probably won't score many points, and they won't be able to run.
So if we can get another multiple INT day, we have a good chance.

We won't get picked, Grossman is gonne get picked !!!
seriously grossman played terrible last night in my eyes, which doesn't mean he's gonne play against us that bad but you never know

also the O finally played a verry good game and if we keep running we can win it
i'm sure BJ is gonne have a pick but who knows maybe he isn't
:P
Chester plyed great and that fumble call was bullshit

anyway think about it
we're gonne win!!! at leat we have to

Hey guys, nice board first off. Here's to a injury free game for both teams. Should be a real good game. I look for some big hits. We will run the ball, unlike these other teams you've played. We put up 153 yards with 4.3 ypc against New Englands #3 run defense. If you get to Rex, it will be a long day for us Bear fans. Alot of fans are calling for Rex's head, but I stand behind him. He's been injured alot, and doesn't have the experience most 4th year qbs have. Good luck Sunday!

Awesome to see a good-natured fan of the opposition. I too am looking forward to an injury-free game.

I agree that it will be a long day for Rex if we can put some pressure on him. That hasn't been our strong suit as of late...

Also, with injuries and a suspension, your secondary looks thin. If B-rad and some of our rag-tag recievers can pull it togethger like they did at the Dome on Sunday, and Chester should be able to provide a good ground game to set up some play-action.

Dwight and Sharper each get one from Rex, and Longwell boots a game winner after the warning. Thomas Jones and Cedric Benson collectively gain 17 rushing yards. Rex gets sacked 3 times, but knocked around quite a bit. Chester marks his 1000-yard mark off with another 150-yd preformance, and the bears lose 2 in a row.

Welcome to the site!

I don't think you're going to see those rushing numbers against us. NE might be #3, but we are #1, giving up an average of only 56.6 yards/game & a 2.8 yard/rush avg. in 266 attempts. 5 of which went for 20+ yards.

The last time we met we held you to 51 yards rushing in 21 tries. An average of only 2.4 yards/carry. Look for more of the same.

It's going to come down to which Rex Grossman shows up to play. He's been hot & cold all season & if the Rex Grossman of yesterday shows up to play & are offense can meet or exceed the play they had yesterday, we might just come out of there with a win.

You think there is a chance it could snow?

Snow would make them run right into our exceptional run d and would overall give us a better chance to win.

The way Rex has looked, we could actually have an easier time against the bears than we did against the cardinals. This will be a huge game for us to either keep us in the playoff hunt, or take us out of it!

i_bleed_purple
11-27-2006, 10:43 PM
remember, if you look at gameplay and not the score, the cardinals beat the bears.
this game is very winnable.
a couple of injuries help us here, especially in the secondary.
i predict around 85-100 yds for chester and 230 for brad with 2 td's and a win :D

From the Star Trib:

• Tight end Richard Angulo, who was released from the Vikings' practice squad last week, will sign with the Bears and join that team's practice squad, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Nice timing Lovie. I wonder if they will be able to get an upper hand by doing this and learning a little more about our offense (calls, signals, etc...)?

Snow and Wind is predicted for Friday, but right now Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy with highs in the low 30s.
That can change quickly though.

I think a windy, snowy day would be ideal for us.
It would force both teams to run the ball more, which would work out in the Vikes favor on both sides of the ball.

* The Bears are expected to sign former Vikings TE Richard Angulo as early as today. Angulo was released from the Vikings practice squad last week.

Looks like the Bears are using the old practice squad spy trick....they must be worried about us..... :D

- True dat, here they come. Grossman is in trouble....he's one of the most predictable QB's in the league. We are gonna pressure him, remove the running game & run the ball through that overrated Bears D

I haven't read most of the posts, but I imagine that the majority said that we should focus on getting to Grossman. That sure would seem the key to victory. They know it too and will be prepping to protect him. So it would be a good idea to give them new looks on our D. Things that we have seldom or not relied on until now. I wish I were familiar with our defensive schemes so I could look real smart and suggest some formations. I guess I'll have to leave that up to the DC, If we are able to rattle Grossman, the second most important part is protect Johnson and continue on last weeks game. More variety and some roll out passes. Even some QB runs when things aren't there. I've watched Brad all his career and he looks mighty stiff doing it but went he has some open space he runs very effectively.

So rush their QB and protect ours and everything else will fall into place.
