What do you guys think our record will be at the end of the season? I'm leaning towards 10-6 - 9-7.

Welcome to the site MVF!
Are you by any chance the mother of any member(s) here?
That would be great entertainment.

I'm sticking with my offseason prediction of 9-7.

I think we'll end up right around five hundred. 8-8 9-7 7-9 We'll see how we do on this four game stretch of very beatable opponents.

we should be able to do 9-7 easily with our schedule, i am going to go optimistic and say 10-6 or 11-5. then we get a wildcard spot and make childress the first coach in NFL history to win the SB in his first year :o ;D

VKG4LFE
11-09-2006, 08:42 PM
He wouldn't be the first rookie coach to win the SB in history, George Siefert of the 49ers holds that honor, but I would take the second rookie head coach to win the SB, that's fine with me.

Didn't Jon Gruden do it too (with Brad Johnson, no less)?

[Sorry, I know this is kind of hijacking the thread]

For the record, I'm gonna be modest and go 9-7 with the losses coming from Chicago (at Soldier Field), NY Jets (at home, unfortunately), and Green Bay (at Lambeau
::) ).
Time will tell...and all of this assumes that our offense plays about half-way between what they did at Seattle and what they did at San Francisco.

In the preseason I predicted 5-11 / 6-10.

Maybe now we're a hair better, but still not convinced we got it this season . . . 7-9 tops.

I think that they're talking about "rookie" Head Coach, not first year with a new team.

jon gruden was the youngest HC to win a superbowl, mabye thats what you were thinking of.

as for record, i still think they can go 16-0 ;)

I have two goals for the rest of the year.
A winning record and a packer sweep.
If (when) we achieve that I will give this season a passing grade.

a great start to the season its a shame we slid to .500, but I belive 9-7 or even 10-6. finishing below .500 would be a huge disapointment after such a great start. hopefully we can start putting teams away.

It's still up in the air.
Just a few years ago the Vikes started at 6-0 and the Meathead-led team went south and lost to a crappy Cardinals team to give the Cheeseheads the NFCN crown.
I would rather be in this situation, 4-4 and correctable problems with a team that has coaches that can do someting strange, think.

i totally agree, as of now i really like the coaching. they have pulled us out of some close ones. infact the coaching on D has been the inspiration of the season. i just wish tomlin could teach some of those guys on the other side of the ball how to hold on to it. also we need some of those breaks to go our way. i was at the SF game sitting at the 50 yard line a few rows up, the run CT had of 65 called back by holding on TT has completely absurd. the SF fan sitting right next to me also agreed with me.

yeah i thought that was a bad call to. i seen a couple bad calls on the vikings though, i guess thats why they call it home field advantage

There is no reason to think we will lose those three games to GB, CHI, and NJ. For one, we had the Bears beat, until the fumble and we still came close. We beat GB both times last year and our team was crappier. 3 weeks ago nobody would've looked at NY as a tough opponent. One that could possibly beat us, sure. But not one that we expect to lose. As far as the record goes.......16-4 SUPERBOWL CHAMPS BABY WHOOOOHOOOO!!!!!!!

As frustrating as the last 2 weeks have been, we are lucky to be sittin at 4-4 right now.
Just as easily as we could be 6-2 or 7-1, we could be 2-6 or 1-7.
I thought we got away with a couple in Washington and against Carolina.
Even Detroit, we were behind most of the game, until the D came up huge.
But we also let Chicago, Buffalo, and San Fran slip away in winnable games.
Hopefully we are able to make the playoffs, and hopefully we win the division.
And hopefully, we have a better record than the Giants at the end of the season.
Have an embarrassing bet riding on that with a NYG fan.
If any of you have ever seen Porky's, the outfits they were in gym with the short shorts, tight polos, headbands, knee high striped socks, and old school converse.
Well, the loser of the bet has to go to the bar like that for a night.

Now that is a good bet.
I love bets like that where you get to enjoy the other person being humiliated the whole evening...not quite as much fun if you lose though.

7-9

Love the vikes, but realistically we aernt that good. Other then Tomlin, our coaching sucks, Our D is good. Chester Taylor, Richardson, Wiggins and Hutch are the only things on the offense that works. And nothing is being done to fix it, other then letting them try and play through it.

9-7 and easy schedule is our friend!

Unfortunately, if we don't get it together and start playing well, it will either be no playoffs or a quick exit from them.:(

Unfortunately, the games on our schedule that are "easy" have the teams we're playing against looking at us as an "easy" opponent.
It wasn't supposed to be this way. :'(

As much as I'd like to say 11-5, or even 10-6, I just don't see how we can get to that based on the way we've played in recent weeks.
At the beginning of the season I said 7-9, but after the hot start, I'll be really disappointed if that's how we finish.

And yes, I do believe it was the outfit the coach wore in the "lassie" scene.

The way things are going, we'll be lucky to finish 8-8. It may be more of a 6-10 season or 7-9.
