Safety Rashad Baker, who appeared in only one game this season with the Vikings, was released Saturday, a team spokesman confirmed.
Baker was claimed off waivers from the Buffalo Bills in the final roster cut to 53 players. His only appearance came Oct. 1 against his former Bills teammates. In his third season out of Tennessee, Baker has played in 29 games and made three starts.

The Vikings did not make an immediate roster move to replace Baker. One possibility would have been to activate Jason Carter from the practice squad, but the receiver was not believed to be in San Francisco with the team for today's game (practice squad players do not travel).

If they don't refill his spot this weekend why is it that he is cut now, and not just wait till next week?

The Vikes must've wanted to save on hotel room, airfare and meal expenses...LOL!
The Red Era is BACK!!!
LOL

BUT seriously, seems to be pretty stupid...maybe Studwell is gonna suit up today in Baker's place!

It's not that bad. You're only allowed to suit up 45(46) of the 53 players on your roster.

But it's still pretty strange.
