I hope your right, but I think it will be a closer game than that.

Wow.
I knew we had a better overall defense, but you have us listed as having a better overall offense too?
Didn't know that!

Welcome, viking14!

Good stats to back up your prediction...not a guarantee that we will win...but good evidence that we CAN!!

Yeah, the only problem is that overall offense and defense rank is based on yards and I am one of many who thinks it should be based on points scored/allowed.

In that Category the Pats are beating us:

Defense pts allowed/game: NE 13.3 (4th overall) vs MN: 15.8 (6th overall)

Offense pts scored/game (including defensive scores): NE 22.7 (10th overall) vs MN 20.0 (19th overall).

Yards don't mean anything when the 4th quarter comes to an end, it's all about points. I doubt we win this game by 2 TDs.

Surprisingly the Pats are 23rd in pass offense. I think this stat can be misleading as Brady is always dangerous and he is just getting used to his receivers. The real test for Minnesota D is the run game. The pats are ranked 6th at 131 yds/gm and we all know the Vikes have been stopping the run. I think that is where this game will be won or lost. If we can make them one dimensional like we did with the Chickens I predict a 20-16 win at home in the dome.

I am excited to see how well we can contain Maroney.

The Williams' will still do a good job in the middle, but the matchup to watch will be Napo vs. Maroney. I have a feeling its gonna be up to the linebackers to keep good ol' Larry Gaptooth at bay.

I see this coming down to a FG in the last minute or so, maybe 20-17 or 23-20.

Although, this really does have a chance to be a statement game for the Vikings.
If we win this one, and do so convincingly, look out!!!

unless we hav a late int or fumble for a TD, the game will be close cause our offnese, though playing better, cannot blow any team out of the water.

the score will be in the 20's, one team will win by 1-4 points.
US!

Welcome14! I agree that this game looks like a good matchup statistically in favor of the Vikes.I also agree that stats can't tell you what the final score will be,either. My guess would be a Viking win,35-31,with the defense scoring and helping to setup scores. Is there a stat that shows how the Vikings compare to the Pats on scoring with defense?

35-31?
No way!!
Our defense isn't giving up 31 points and we're not going to score 35 against theirs.
Is there anything that has happened so far this season that makes you think that 35-31 is even a slight possibility?

Brady is always dangerous and the Pats are now a mainly rushing team which is why teh Vikings are going to win.
Its the Belichek strategy - take out their strength and make them win with their weakest attribute.
Unfortunately for us I don't think anyone would consider Tom Brady weak but their 23rd ranked pass offense is what is going to have to beat us because they won't be able to run the ball and that gives us the slight advantage we need to win.
I predicted 20-17 in another thread and I'm gonna stick with it.

Vikings 19
Pats 17

Vanderjagt misses a 53 yd FG to win the game. Or Longwell kicks the game winning FG.

Game Winning Field Goal by Longwell. Vikes win 23-20 in a defensive shootout.

There is no reason to think we cannot put up 30+ against anyone.

OUr defense is swarming and scoring. If the offense can turn long drives into TD's instead of field goals I don't see why 30+ is so un reachable.

There is no way the score will be 35-31 first off i dont think our ofense can score 35 points (its a ball control offense) and second we havent allowed more than 19 points to anyone this season so look for the score to be something closer to 24-17 or 21-14

On your other question the pats have no defensive tds while the vikes lead the league with 4!

Most offenses are ball control offenses. We put up 26 then 31 our last two weeks, 35 is definately a possibility. Especially if the defense scores.
