We proved that the Vikes wont be run over by anyone.
The vikes D look awesome, again.
If only the "o" would get it together and start scoring points, then we'll be very hard to stop.
It sucks losing to the bears but I'm still proud of the job our guys did out there.

Problem is that I don't think our offense is a powerhouse.
We have been conservative.

I agree, I am happy with our performance today.
Just saying that we are going to have to scrap for a win everyweek.
With a good D, that is an OK scenario to be in.

Not as many holding penalties, but we didn't run as much today.

It wasn't our offense, it was the refs.

I was extremely pleased, and will hold my head high against the Bears fans at school!

We played very well, dumb bloopers that can happen in any game caused the problems.

i am glad that they got atleast 2 w's out of the first 3 games. i can't wait to see the offense go up against a easy defense.

Change this to the mike tice mental wins thread.
A loss is a loss.

What part are you most proud of? The play calling? The dropped passes? The fumble? The OLine sucking their normal a$$? The fact Smoot couldnt cover my 70 year old aunt? The fact we cant score touchdowns? The fact the bears come in our house and own us? That the refs hate Childress's vikes worse then Tice's?

I'm proud that an elite nfc team comes to our house and we put their backs to the wall.
I'm proud that a team patched together in the off season can compete with a team that has had years to gel.
Im proud that our defense makes other teams work for every yard.
I could go on and on...

I'm also proud that I don't complain like a child when my team loses a very close hard fought game.

P.S. Did you think a team with all new coaches, new offensive & defensive schemes & mostly new players was going 16-0 and wins a superbowl?

The Vikings win and you disappear (http://www.purplepride.org/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=150&action=profile;u=7649;sa=showPosts), now you come in with your tirades.
It is nauseating.
Bring something to the table other than resurfacing with your spineless whining.

Grossman threw just as many TD passes to the Vikings as he did to the bears.
The D pulled off a few INTS against the vastly overrated Bears O and the cards ended up going in their direction.

I was proud of the defensive effort and am concerned about the O.
This team is a newborn team considering all the changes this year and the Bears are playing with many of the same players.
They did a gol 'darnit good job in this game and should have won, but they didn't.
If you think the sky is falling after week three with a 2-1 record you need to begin to think a little more.
If the Vikings were 0-3, considering their recent changes, I wouldn't be too uptight.
Learn from their mistakes, celebrate their improvements, and move on to the next game.

Me to........
I am proud of my Vikings.
They have had massive changes since last year in all aspects of teh game.
I can't wait until they get more experience under theirs belts and GEL!!!
That defense is going places.
I have my concerns as well over the offense but jeez give the guys some time!!

I love the Vikes as much as the next guy. But when the only thing to really be proud of is the deffense, its kinda hard. Our special teams makes baby jesus cry.

Come on, for a bunch of years the O is the only thing Vikings fans had.
Every time the D hit the field the other team scored at least three.
Today they held them in the red zone many times.
I would rather have it flipped around where the O needs to step it up any day.
It is week 3 in a new scheme all the way around.
I'm actually pleasantly surprised that the D is doing this well and have confidence that the O will come around, barring injury to BJ.

The special teams look an order of magnitude better than they did in the preseason.
Troy Williamson should have had a TD if he would have read the blocking on that one return.
The special teams won the game in Carolina (partially Carolina's special teams and ours
8).

The team is looking better than I expected them to this early in the season.
I have confidence in the coaching staff and the team to improve as they progress this season.
They will be fine.
An reasonable person would give a new coaching staff a minimum of three years to get things going and you're crying foul after three weeks and a 2-1 record against good teams?

That makes no sense.

roger that, week 3= 2-1 record can't complain..
we'll be square after next week anyway.

I know it does little to wish but I would have loved to seen this defense at full strength.
Chad, Tank, Edwards, Eramus would all been logging major minutes.
Just imagine the depth we would have had.

On the one hand, Brad Johnson is 9-3 as a starter.
That's good and shouldn't be overlooked.

On the other hand, this offense has scored exactly zero TDs in two home games this season.
We've been in the red zone 6 or so times and couldn't punch it in.

Defense looks solid, but not overwhelming.

We're a 10-6 team that will be competing for a wildcard.

a 10-6 team with 22 new coaches, new defensive and offensive schemes, and a team that got many new starters on both sides of the ball. a team that lost their #1 draft pick, backup FB, starting SS, and starting DE all by the 2nd week.

thats pretty damn good, look at the other 9? teams that got new headcoaches

and CC, the bears had nothign to cheer about last year but their defense and won the NFC north title, why isnt that good enough? ecspecially since we have a much better starting line up in brad, chester, troy, etc, on offense

You knoww CCthebest is just a Troll, came in here to argue and to get people riled up.
I don't trust his allegiance to the vikings any farther then I can throw him.

My thoughts on the team, we had them beat.
Good teams rise to the occasion and the bears did that, it proves they are a hell of a team, but it also proves we got something to be proud of here in the Twin cities.
The vikes played that team punch for punch and had them beat, until halfway through the fouurth quarter.

The offense will come around and I expect they will rise to the occasion, but its early, and we knew it could be a rough year for our offense.

Hey guys...I'm new here...but I know football and know my vikings, just as much as the next guy. We need a deep threat,it seems the Vikes have given up on the long ball....all these short drop passes and runs are kiliing us....I know Childress is trying to est. the ball game by running by sometimes spreading the fiend and the defense can help. We need to use Wiggins more the TE position is not used enough in the Vikes' O. Defense looks good, sometimes great, but the O needs a big jolt and Special Teams...well wow they're just awful....no schemes,no good returners. Vikings had the Bears beat today and should have won the Game I feel they choked...4th & 2 and you chuck the ball to a double covered reciever...what the crap ?

It's a Victory in a mindset way, but the record where it counts it's a loss.

Tough game coming up against the Bills, they're
a up and coming young team..very tough at home.

I dont understand half the posters here. You can still critisize(sp?) the Vikes, and love them. If they would go 0-16 i would still love em, as would most of the posters here.

But when you play a division rival AT HOME and cant score a touchdown, or have any deep threat whatsoever cause hed drop the ball, you can point out all the defects this team has, even with new coachs etc. The good teams are fired up. The high payed players step it up a notch. You dont play silly plays in the last minutes of the game, and Birk and Hutch shouldnt allow someone to run right throw the line.

If this game was at Soldiers field, then yea it would have been ok. Who is in charge of special teams? Fire the lot of em right now. Cant cover the kick, and they cant open any kind of holes for returns.

all and all, i was really impressed with our team and how they played against the bears defense, considering and it has been said alot, it is a new offense and we will only get better, the season is early and we will win alot more games and go into the playoffs, yea there are areas that need to be worked on but that will come, i do agree that we do need another deep threat to work with twill, he had a great catch that was brought back by a bogus call, brad can still thow it down the field

The Vikes played well. I'm sad we lost but happy with the effort. Go Vikes.

what are people expecting from a brad johnson led offence. we had nine games last year to watch it and now three this year, to see that brad will put up 175-200 yards, 60% passing and a touchdown.

we are really defending alot on the run this year, and we have had good results considering the defences we have been playing. the skins, panthers and bears. three of the best defences in the league. so our output on offence is normal.

it is just our play calling that is not putting us in the endzone. also the fact that brad takes the quick read and passes less than 10 yards half the time.

all this being said, i am very pleased with the way we played today. sure there are things that i didn't like, but as a whole there are more positives.

o-line greatly improved from lastweek, doing a great job of protecting brad. taylor continues to pound the ball for tough yards against great run defences. and on defence, we continued our great play.

this team has proved that it is for real. we are only going to improve.

The reality that the Bears are going to win the division sinking in kind of sucks. I know it's early, but it's already like "Next year is the year!" and we have to just sit through this season and let the Bears take their turn.

NO WAY. The Bears are not an "elite" team. The Vikings still have as much of a chance to win the division as them. I believe Grossman will not last much longer before he is injured.Possibly in a freak eyebrow waxing accident.

The coaching however....They were a different story.

i was also somewhat dumb founded with our coaching today. i didn't like the challanges and the last play of the game which was a 4th and two and brad goes deep.

Who cares about winning the division when you can win the wild card
;D .
I'd much rather win the division but I think taking the wild card and beating the division winner in the playoffs a la packers 2004 is even better.

the play calling was kinda sketchy, but all in all it was a well played game.

B.j needs to stay consistant. he's good at it and when he sees the chance go long. I don't mind the quick reads, or the short runs as long as we make the 1st downs.

i'm pleased with our O so far. against 2 solid D's, and 1 good D we've been very unproductive glamor wize, but are never out of a game. longwell's gonna rack up points until B.j and wiggens become best friends.

i'm realllly pleased with the D. after 3 weeks we can prove we are a fearsome D. look @ what the O's we've faced did. Tomlin has these guys fired up, ok we're missing key elements, those spots will be tight very soon. they give up some inside plays, but really have held in the redzone. one play short of a td shutout is nvr a bad thing.

i'm waiting to be more impressed with the special teams, but have to give um credit, we're not giving killing ourselves.

Not happy with the loss, but not panicked either:
a few things need improvement, but its a short list.
Too bad the Chicago home game will now be so important.

This was my first chance to watch the Vikings this year. It was good to see a strong defensive effort.
This is drastic change from Tice's teams.

The Vikings beat themselves and there is hope for improvement during the year.

Seattle vs. Bears for possible NFC Championship preview this weekend?
