Minnesota Vikings 2006 Season Preview
Last Update: 8/29/2006 5:00:37 PM

The ship never really sunk. It took on water, teetered back and forth, and had rats making haste for the exits.
But the Minnesota Vikings' very strange, somewhat troubling campaign of 2005 was less of a capsizing and more of a troubled voyage that ended with a 9-7 record and an official retirement from the playoff picture. Now Mike Tice's era as captain has ended, and folks will revisit the seasons of 2002 through 2005 with the same morbid curiosity as they might a museum erected on the deck of a war-torn battleship. And they'll lament.

Did this writer follow the draft or watch any of the preseason games. What a stupid quote...ever hear of Tarvaris Jackson numbnuts?

If Childress, who has a reputation as dealing well with quarterbacks, has some grand vision for what to do about the most important position on the field in the long term, he has yet to show it

Then he implies that Childress's job in very tenuous at this point and that Zygi is ready to fire him sooner, rather than later. C'mon, the guy hasn't even coached a game yet, for cryin' out loud!

How these guys get jobs as writers is beyond me.

This guy makes a lot of sense for the most part.
I agree that the whole Childress statement is rediculous however he brings up very valid points.
He sees our front lines as much improved and the defensive back corps improved.
He's right.
He sees the LB and WR corps weak.
He's right there too.
He sees Johnson as an old QB and Chester Taylor as a backup.
In essense he's right.
However, BJ is a smart and wise QB in great physical and mental condition.
With protection he'll be fine.
Taylor does have to prove himself but I believe he'll be fine as well.
