View Full Version : Nickname for Childress

We gotta come up with a nickname for Childress......I mean with Denny we had De-Knee (in reference to the 1998 NFC championship game) and with Tice we had meathead among others.

What about Childress - BC - Bad Choice?

Let's see how he does coaching wise before we give him a nickname.. If he does bad, we can give him a bad nickname.. If he does good (like we are expecting him to be) then we can give him a good nickname.. Let's wait and see..

BC-bad choice. I like the nickname, but hope it doesn't fit.

BC-Best choice should be a better fit.

Major Dad, since he looks like the dude who played that role.

Is "Bud" Grant's true name really Harry Peter?? How long before he got the nick name, Bud? Does anyone know?

I did a search and here is what I came up with:

blog.lib.umn.edu/maasx003/Vikings/043724.html
Born Harry Peter Grant, Jr. to Bernice and Harry Peter Grant, Sr. in Superior, Wisconsin on May 20, 1927, 'Bud' earned his nickname to help his mother avoid the confusion of two Harry's in their house. His mother's first choice 'Buddy Boy' was eventually shortened to 'Bud'.

Instead of 'Major Dad', I think 'Major Brad' would be more apt...

I don't like it.

The whole military connection reminds me too much of Les Steckel.

Plus nicknaming a coach after a comedy TV show, just because he somewhat resembles Gerald McCraney, is a slap in the face to Childress, IMO.

I like Iceman, but think it's too early to try to peg him with a nickname. I'm sure one will develop as the season progresses. If you look at him for more than one second you know he needs a nickname.

But seriously Childress (49) looks 10 years older than he is.

yeah i think labeling him would be pretty ignorant before he's even coached a single game. let's give him a fitting nickname in 2 or 3 years, which is enough time for him to fully settle in and implement his system.

Man, Fat Dumb was the greatest name for a coach!!
I believe we all got it from the 93x morning show, they always called Denny Green "Fat Dumb" from that show.

I like the comparison to Mr. Noodle.

I personally think he looks like what I'd envision Beavis's dad looking like, especially in the pic where he's smiling.

I like to call Bill Parcells Marsupial Pouch Man. The guy's got a kangaroo pouch, aka front butt.

It can't be cue ball due to the hair on the sides. Cue ball is completely bald. My sister once dated a guy with that tattooed on the side of his head. Yeah, he was a real winner.

The Bald Eagle. Oh wait, that one doesn't work anymore.

Big Cheese. No, that wouldn't work.

Brad "The Chosen One" Childress.

The more I think about it, the more I like Mr. Noodle.
