I know we have had alot of players leave via free agency or retirement in the past few years, but who do you wish was still wearing the purple & gold & why?

~ Please note: This Poll is based on players in their prime, since retired guys may be too old

Robert Smith, he was just fun to watch and he retired too soon.

I 2nd the robert smith. He is one of the main reasons I got into football. I still wear his jersey today. He retired to soon, but for the right reasons.

Cris Carter, definately. He was the best receiver in the history of the franchise and it was great to see him work every Sunday.

I loved watching John Randle in his prime. My friend would always bring a "Randle 3:16" sign to the dome for games!

Now if there was an option for the 1998 Randy Moss, when he still thought he had something to prove to all the teams that passed him up, that would have got my vote! But by 2004, he didn't have that drive anymore...

I say C. Carter. The guy had a great passion to work. Made spectacular plays. I loved watching his sideline grabs. He was an awesome mentor to the other receivers and a leader on the field.

What does Cris Carter do? Catch Touchdowns!

IM gonn ago with Robert, we havent had a solid running game since he left.

So far, most people want Robert back. I miss the guy too. When he first played for us, I was skeptical about his skills. He had a long stride & didn't appear to move that quick. Boy, was I wrong.....even after serious knee injuries, he still came back & kicked a$$

Robert Smith was a product of the best offensive line in the league at the time. When he was piling up all those yards he was running behind 4 pro-bowl offensive lineman- Steussie, McDaniel, Christy, and Stringer. The only one not to make the pro-bowl was David Dixon who was about as solid as they come at RG.

I dont miss Robert Smith, I miss that line. And who knows, maybe 06 will be similar to that line- I could see 3/5 making prow bowl, but that line from about 95-2001 was the best we have ever had.

Which is why I vote Randy Moss, the most irreplaceable player we have ever had.

That's all he does!

C. Carter was just plain awesome with some of the best hands ever. His whole comeback story remains one of my favorites for any athlete. He turned out to be an ideal mentor and role model after turning his poop around. He is 10x the guy Michael "crackhead" Irvin is.

I personally hated to see Randle leave the twin cities, but as for on the field it has to be Robert Smith hands down. Our running game hasn't been the same since he left. Bennett had one good year other than that, nothing. NO dominant RB has been in purple since #26 left in 2000.

Cris Carter: In Their Own Words.
At the end of this special he is addressing the fans and he says "Most players wont tell you this, But I miss it! I miss you and I miss the game!" Everytime I see that I get a lil emotional heh. I love the guy and I miss him too. I loved the Randy years and everything he did no one else can do. But Cris Carter was 1 of a kind also.

All choices are very good but I would take MOSS if he was playing the way he did early. I love CC but if Randy put his head to football he could be as good as or better than Jerry Rice.

I made it awhile ago. I switch back to it from time to time.

Studs was the man! All of our current LB's could not even carry his right nut!

this pretty much sums up why i voted for Carter... he was a fan-pleaser and never dissappointed me with his effort, unlike Moss who was a freak of nature, but didn't show up all the time.... Carter never took plays off

Im gonna say the 2003 moss without his backspasms and foot problems. He had his best season that year and had a lot of drive. Imagine if he was fully healthy that year!

John Randle for his smile, motor and he was insane

Moss for his big plays

Robert Smith because he was a class act, too bad his early seasons were shorten by injuries, he could of had bigger career numbers

Pep and Hovan left with baggage

While I don't really miss Moss, I miss the feeling of "anything can happen" when the Vikings offense stepped on the field. Especially the feeling when Daunte or Randall would step back to launch a pass and you'd notice Moss beating his man downfield.

Robert Smith by far. A selfless athlete that fought hard early in his career to become on of the elite running backs in the league. kept his nose clean and his mouth shut. Moss is great, but he couldn't be a good boy.
