Vikings | Williamson switching numbers
Sat, 1 Apr 2006 20:34:46 -0800

Jeff Zulgad, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings WR Troy Williamson, who wore No. 19 as a rookie last season, is switching to No. 82, the same number he wore at South Carolina.

I'm glad to hear it. I really don't care much for this fad of wearing numbers in the teens.

I was looking for a jersey of his last year, never got it. Now I'm happy I didn't.

I'll be looking for one early this year, I truly think he is going to have somewhat of a break-out season.....

Let's just hope Brad has him in his plans.

Awesome! I was never a big fan of 19 for T-Will. 18 for Koren looks sweet, but 18 is really one of the few #'s in the teens that looks cool.

Actually, if Williamson has his breakout year this year, and goes on to be a star receiver, that #18 jersey could be worth serious bank.

Just something to think about.....

LOL Can you change it to any numbers? 91?l

i_bleed_purple
04-02-2006, 06:21 PM
only to 10-19, or 80 - 81

I think you can put in a request to the NFL to have a different number, but odds are it would be denied. Thats how the whole 10-19 started, Keyshawn Johnson put in a request to the NFL for #19 and it was accepted.

I personally liked the #19, its somehting different, about 80% of all recievers out there have 80-89 numbers, so its kinda nic to see it mixed up a bit.

What if some people want to wear numbers over 90? They can't

You mean #19. My brother has a #12 Culpepper jersey, not worth much, I don't think.

Who had #82 last? I can't remember if it was Keenan Howry, or who it was. If it was Howry, couldn't he have had that number last season? I just can't remember who had that # last. I know Campbell was #16.. That makes me mad I can't remember..

I think all NFL WR's should wear numbers in the 80's its messed up seeing WRs wearing 19 and numbers like that.

And also because of the story behind it. In Seattle, he was #81, boozing and wasting his potential. Now, he's turned his life around, so he decided to turn his number around, too. Whoa...it's, like...symbolic, man.

Yea, it was Keenan Howry. I guess since Howry made the team out of training camp, Williamson decided to just use 19 the rest of the year. And now that Howry's gone for good (yay) he's switchin back to his usual number.

The only Viking 82s I can think of are Keenan Howry and Andrew Glover.

Im starting to think that we should have kept Kelly Campell. He was a player that could have had a breakout season like K-Rob.

I think cool, especially with many from the last couple drafts switching from 80s to teens, i just feel bad for those who got his jersey (I know how they feel, i asked for a vikings jersey for Christmas, my parents gave me Culpepper. Less than 2 months later he's with the dolphins)

He didnt get signed by anyone right? I'm kinda surprised by that he was a decent 4th reciever...

i_bleed_purple
04-03-2006, 02:43 AM
as a #4 reciever he would be great, but he's just too small to be any more than #3 at most. according to NFL.com he's a dolphin now, so i guess there's no chance of getting him back. I wish we could have kept him, at the very least he could have returned punts.

When will we see another WR on the team wear #84? That will be diffrent especially if he is smaller than 6'4

yeah it would look weird for someone short to wear 84

ViKing24

Im glad he changed it a little #!9 isn't a terrible number I had it when I played football and look how good I am. However numbers in the 80s should be what receivers should wear I like #18 though like Randy Moss and K-Rob

The ball boy said that the QB that will be drafted will wear #11 and a new rookie WR will sport 84. Rumor has it that their names will be Larry and Moe. This information was not confirmed by the janitor.

I bought one last year and wore it to every game. This year I will buy another anyway because of the new uniforms, so it really isn't any big deal to me.

Besides, I like jerseys with old numbers on them. One of my friends has a Kleinsasser jersey with the number 85, and I think it is cool when he wears it to the games still.

K. Campbell is a turd. He barely cracked our line up and still talked trash. The Dolphins can have him for all I care.

yeah, i'm not really too fond of WR numbers in the teens. You can thank Keyshawn for that. Seeing Moss with a low number sux. But Porter already has #84. Good to see Troy take #82

Actually Linebackers sometimes have 90's #s. But yeah, only defensive players generally have 90's.

On topic: This is good, since I won't get Koren and Troy mixed up all the time now!

Yeah not a big fan of the teen numbers for WR's. All these rookies coming into the league look kinda stupid imo with them numbers. Glad Williamson's taking a good old traditional number.

Keenan Howry wore #82 until he got cut last year.
