If he is our starter shouldn't he get paid like one?

Vikings quarterback Brad Johnson, who is signed as the team's starter for a relatively low $1.2 million this season, said he has had no talks about a new contract. "We're not talking about that now," he said.

If he plays like a starter, pay him like one. He has yet to prove whether he can lead this team.

if he does want one i think we should just give him a half mil raise in guaranteed money and make the rest incentive cash

Well I wouldn't mind giving him a raise, as long as we still have all the money we need to spend elsewhere on other players.

But I think we still have lots of caproom, so I wouldn't mind giving him a little raise to keep him in line with other starters.

Give him an incentive bonus...$10 million (straight CASH homey) if he can lead the Vikes to the Super Bowl...YEAH!!!

I'd give him a raise once he gets the Vikes to the playoffs...then bonuses for every rounf after that....

I say nay.

He is only our temporary starter until we can get a young franchise quarterback. The Vikes have no long term plans centered around him. Besides, he doesn't need it...those social security checks are right around the corner!

I agree with faninphx. He is not a true starter per se. We are biding our time till we have the answer for the future. Besides, no one else wanted him, which does dictate the value of a player.

No way, pay him backup price.
