Openings on the venerable En Fuego Fantasy League

Due to our transition from an in-person auction to an online auction, we have several openings in our football fantasy league, which is entering its ninth year of operation.

First up: There are no cash prizes. Entry fee is $20, which pays for the Sportsline website and eBay fees for auctioning off players. We have long decided that our league is so competitive already that playing for money would result in mafia hits, so we play for pride, fun, and a traveling trophy which is engraved with your name, team name, and year. It’s about three feet tall and very cool looking.

We are looking for committed owners who love football and are willing to keep up on their rosters each week. While we ask anyone interested to email, it is not first-come, first-serve. We take a lot of pride in the friendly competition, and want to make sure we have good, committed, friendly owners that keep the integrity of the league up.

The original “Three Amigos” of the league are still intact, myself and two other guys who are very competitive. I am the league commissioner, and have been praised for my attention to detail and making of a fun interactive website. Message board use is highly encouraged, or the other owners will make fun of you on it. We have five other members who have joined in the last five years.

We have a $110 salary cap.

Lineup deadline is 5 minutes before gametime for each player.

Owners may set lineups.

Owners may make trades post season.

Add/drops are handled by a waivers process. The waivers process runs everyday until the season starts, at which time the process will run on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The waiver order resets after each weeks' games.

Dropped players remain on waivers for at least 1 day(s). Trades are subject to a 1-day voting period, where at most 2 objections are allowed. Trades receiving more the 2 objections are sent to the commissioner for approval.

No trades can be made after the trade deadline of 11/26/04.

Playoffs start in Week 15 and last for 2 Weeks. 4 teams will make the playoffs, while the other 8 teams will have their own playoffs in seperate brackets for pride.

The starting lineup/total players shall include

1/2 QB
2/4 RB
2/4 WR
1/2 TE
1/2 K
1/2 DST
8/16 total players

Game scores shall be determined by a combination of offensive and defensive accumulated point totals. The team with the greater amount of points, shall be selected as the game winner. The following criteria shall be utilized in the scoring system:

Offensive Points:
TD's Passing / 3 points
TD's Rushing / 6 points
TD's Receiving / 6 points
Field Goal / 3 points
Extra Point / 1 point
2 point Conversion / 2 points rush/receiving, 1 point passing

Defensive Points
TD's by Defense / 6 points (Scored in any manner)
Safety / 2 points
Interception / 1 point
Fumble Recovery / 1 point
QB Sack / 1 point
Special Teams Points
TD on Kick Off or Punt Return / 6 points
Bonus Points
Each (50) yards Rushing / 1 point
Each (50) yards Receiving / 1 point
Each (100) yards Passing / 1 point

* Tie games during the regular season will remain a tie and be recorded as such.

This is the most innovative use of online auctioning I've come across.
We will be using eBay to auction off most of the players in our league.
We will be beginning on August 19, and continue through September 3.

Each day, ten players will be placed on the league eBay mypage and be up for three days of bidding. At the end of the auction, the player will be placed on the Sportsline page so everyone knows who has spots to fill and how much cap space they have left.

The first 12 days of auctioning will be scripted, unless we agree in advance to change one (injury, mystery retirement, etc.). The last day of auctions will be owner initiated players that are brought up to bid.

At the end of the 13 days of auctions, there will be about 72 players left to place on rosters. This will be handled through a waiver process where teams will rank their positions they need to fill on the waiver wire, and waivers will run each night until all rosters are filled.

You will want to be able to access the internet probably once per day from the 19th through the 8th. If you are away from the internet or don't like to go on that much, you may want to think against this league.

There is one injured reserve spot. It does count against the cap.

All owners will be required to create a new eBay user name that includes the name of their team in the names. All owners are also required to have Yahoo Messenger, the chat program we use with our league.

All team names are required to have a home city, which cannot be a present-day NFL city. We encourage creativity with your team names. Past names have included the Los Angeles Fighting Amish, the Khovd Marmots, the Titletown Owners, the Brooklyn Bombers, and the Jackson Hole Posse.

We will ask that the $20 is sent to me by August 6. I will be out of state from the 13th until the 25th, so the assistant commissioner will be handling any questions and contacting me if necessary.

If you have any questions, or would like to throw your hat into the ring, please contact me at losangelis@yahoo.com. Serious inquiries only, please.

Okay, I might be begging now. I really could use one more owner to finish up the league. Let me know!
