Interesting article on a former Viking. They rated him as the 6th best Free Agent signing.

For some reason the link doesn't work right, just scroll down to #6.

Gannon had a good career, but he is retired as of right now so why is he a best FA signing.

I think at that time (1999) he was the best FA pickup.. He is retired now, so I think that is what he was referring to...

He was mediocre and caused me great pain and suffering.

That one season he did almost break Marino's yardage record, and he lead the Raiders to the Super Bowl.

Look at who was #1...and what they said about him:

"...the Minister of Defense delivered, transforming the defense and becoming the leader of a team that would win Super Bowl XXXI in 1997. "

Even MORE proof of who was the REAL MVP that year...F*** Favray!

And what?

He was not a Viking, therefore me could care less.

I too could care less. I was merely pointing out to Vikez why Gannon might be considered a top FA pick up.

But has anyone wondered why these players did better in their careers after leaving the Vikes?

I think if his career wasn't cut short and/or he became a more consistant starter earlier in his career . . . he may have had HALL type numbers.

His first 4 seasons with Oakland were extremely impressive, as he played in all 16 games each season, and are HALL worthy numbers.

Unfortunately, I doubt he has the overall numbers to get in. We'll see.

I just wish he could've done that for us. Oh well.
