On ESPNews when they were announcing the firing of recent coached, they had a small list of things and dates that didn't go the Vikes way during the Tice coaching reign. I don't know them for sure exactly, but it went something like this, from later, to recent:

1. Failed to get 1st round draft pick on time in 03'
2. Failed to make playoffs after 6-0 start.
3. The Trade of Moss
4. Sex boat scandal.
Not sure of the 5th one, but I think it might have been failing to make the playoffs again this year. If you have seen this also and know what the 5th was, post it below.

The botched pick was pretty bad as was the 6-0 start that folded. Tice didn't have anything to do with the Moss trade so that can't be put on his shoulders. The sex boat scandal didn't have anything to do with his demise either.

I think a more accurate portrayal is that Redneck put him in as an interim HC the last game of the season in 2001 and then kept him as a minimum wage coach when he wasn't prepared for the challenge. He had a losing season his first year as HC and the other three years consisted of a 0.500 season and two 9-7 seasons. Not bad when you look on the surface.

The problem is when you start at 6-0 and finish the season at 3-7 and lose to the Cards when the playoffs were on the line. I think there was only one other team in the history of the NFL that started at 6-0 and didn't make the playoffs. The next year the Vikes had a 5-1 start followed by a 3-7 finish with a playoff win at Lambeau. The last year of his tenure he started off with a 2-5 start and finished with a 7-2 record...again a good finish on the surface, but lost to the Ravens when it was a must win due to the pathetic start.

His demise was due to not being prepared as an HC when Redneck refused to fork over the coin for a coach (not his fault, I think any of us would take the HC job if it was offered to us) and not being able to win the crucial games or be consistent.

They were on the clock and didn't have their shit together and missed their pick so they dropped a notch.

Yeah! Now I remember! I think one of the 5 (or 5th) was the scalping...

Actually I think it was the 3rd or 4th... *shrug* just relaying info on. But I do agree alot of those things weren't his fault. Mike Tice can't babysit grown men on their "Bye's" and weekends..

That one actually worked out good for us...we lost Ryan Sims (who sucks in KC) and got McKinney (who will be Pro Bowl multiple times before it's all over)...then the next year, we ended up with KWill, who also will be Pro Bowl multiple times before it's all over. NO BIGGIE!
