God does this guy have to like break all his legs, fumble the ball, and throw a Pic for tice to let go of him? He sucks, he'll never be good again. I'm so tired of bennett.

Just cuz he is confident doesn't mean he is gonna start.. I hope he does though.. Give him 20 plus carries for a game or 2 and he should be pretty good

If you believe KFAN, Tice specifically says he will start. Here is the link (cut 'n paste...I can't get the email link generator to work):

When will tice learn.. although Bennett did start the game out well and if he hadn't fumbled would hahve done well but woulda could shoulda isn't going to cut it for bennett. Fason or Mewelde needs to start.

Man, you must be the last Bennett supporter on this site ... Been seeing this "20 carries philosophy" of yours for awhile so I looked it up:

** These years ALSO include all playoff games available to play in for Bennett and that he did play or start in.

So, since 2001 (including 2001) Bennett has rushed for over 20 attempts in a game 3 times out of 52 games he played in. So, thinking he will ever be or can be a work horse running back for this team is not going to happen.

He is not the last supporter, but I do agree that Bennett is definitely not a workhorse back. I don't think Moore or Moe are workhorse backs either though and Fason is a little to green at this point. I really dont know what to do with our back situation ... and I guess that is the problem ... I dont care if I am right or wrong about any of them ... I just want to win ... right now I start ... ... ... uh ... Bennett

I'm on the fence with Bennett.

On one hand, he's seldom healthy, when given the opportunity to shine he fumbled...twice, and his Yards Per Carry has steadily declined over the years, and for a speed guy, he's only broken the long carry TWICE (Both in '02).

On the other hand....well, he's still better than Mewelde Moore. While MeMo had good games last season versus Houston, New Orleans and Tennessee, we're still talking about Houston, New Orleans and Tennessee.

The biggest problem is that we have no one else who can run the ball right now. Even Moe Williams can't carry the load...and he was never meant to.

We're in a real pickle right now with our running game. And it won't be solved this season (Unless Fason turns out to be the next Barry Sanders).

So, for now, we have to accept the fact that we are NOT a running team, and go with what works for us...even if nothing is right now.

Bennett is a situational 3rd down and occational back to support the starter. Till he can prove he can be effective and stay healthy behind the current "O"line we have ... he is nothing more.

Moe is not the answer ... short yardage and goal line only.

Memo ... closest thing we have to a starter currently, MUST start picking up blocking and/or blitz schemes immediately

Fason ... currently the long term answer, but as you said ... he's green and CPep would get blasted on blitzes

Who know's?? Post the above to show Bennett is not / should not be our starter to get the majority of the carries ... that's all that was intended.

I think MeMo and Fason need to get in there...how else are they gonna develope? Fason was bad a$$ at florida...and Could really be the back we need...But tice is daiting micheal bennett, so bennett gets the leg up all the time.

Well I would prefer the third one (fumbled away) he keeps to himself this time around ...

I think we have to give Bennett one more chance. Look what he did before his fumbles. He had like 36 yards and was a big reason our offense was driving down the field. If he screws up again though I am all for Mewelde.

I was sick of Bennett last year, saying I am disgusted is an understatement. What does this guy have to do in order to lose confidence? Both Tice and Bennett have been given infinite opportunities to prove themselves and they have both shown they can't do anything but hamper our ability to win games. Tice has a losing record as coach and our record is something like 4-15 now when Bennett gets the start or plays a significant role in the game. When Bennett is on the shelves we are 13-3 I believe. Whether you are a stat person or not, those stats tell it all.

I dont mean to come off as attacking you or anyone in particular, but..

My question is, why is Bennett entitled so many chances? Mewelde puts up well over 300 yards during 3 starts and gets benched because Tice thought he was babying an injury. Not a regular injury, but a high ankle sprain that could be a huge problem especially for a RB. Tice seems to think everyone should be playing with missing teeth and in wheelchairs, but thats beside the point. Mewelde did everything to EARN the job and he lost it to Bennett who has done nothing to GAIN the job back. Its almost like he is entitled. At least go with Fason and see what he can do...anyone but Bennett. If we let him go at it again this week he will either A) Run into the linemen and fall down, B) Fumble, or C) Get Hurt, or maybe D) All of the Above. He sucks.
