Chris Kluwe, he's a rookie and was cut by the Seahawks.

Maybe he could kick over 30 yards!!! His college stats look pretty good.

I don't know anything about him other than what I read in that link, but I can all but guarantee he'll be better than what Bennett has been.

Come on, a gorilla with a bum leg could punt the ball further Darren Bennett. I have regreted our punter situation since we let go of Mitch Berger.

Does anyone know if this guy can kick off too?

Ranked fourth in the Pac-10 and 26th in the NCAA in punting average (42.9)

I believe 42.9 is longer than 30 yard average of Darren. LOL

KFAN article:
In college, Kluwe averaged 43.4 yards per punt and was one of three finalists for the Ray Guy Award for the NCAA punter of the year.

The guy has potential, I hope he can deliver use some consistancy. But being ranked 26th overall in the preseason still means there were only a hand full of punters worse than him, Bennett and Dorsch being 2 of that hand full.

None of the other Veterans that Tice is going to tryout look that much better.

I'm gonna make my kids punters!

Anyone would be better than Bennett. No offence to Bennett, I like him. I feel bad for his child. But, as a Vike fan, it's time to move on....

Chris Kluwe!! (we hope)

Kluwe will compete with 3 other veterans:

when Kluwe is enjoying his off day, the Vikings will work out three veterans: Chris Mohr, 39, with 16 years of NFL experience; Tom Rouen, 37, with 13 years in the league; and Micah Knorr, 30.

I hope this guy can do it for us. Bennet sucked last year and preseason. I hope he can kickoff too, since Edinger is not doing the best there.

Is the Viking organization a retirement home for kickers and punters??

I will take Kluwe over them just because he can develop and be perhaps our future punter.

yah i just hope Kluwe doesn't need someone to teach him, because i'm tired of having older than dirt kickers in Minnesota.

I am so happy bennett is gone. Kluwe is better no doubt. Bennett not only sucked but was an idiot as well. I saw him on some training camp show and he was crying about the rookie hazing and whatever he is gone!!!
I say welcome to the new guy!

Ditto. Better kicker, better price, more upside. How many punters actually handle kick-offs in the league? Not many, right?

I wish we would have drafted Ted Nu... I mean Mike Nugent #7 overall!! lol

I laughed my azz off when the Jets snagged Nuge. I knew there were a lot of people yelling at the TV at that moment and about 3 months worth of non-stop OMG NUGE MAKES ME CREME MYSELF was all for nothing because the old Jetsters came in and swooped nuge off his feet.

If it was a Nuge of the Ted Variety then I would have been crying if we didn't get that crazy bastard. If he can run with the buffalo he can run with fat pat and the like.

Huh??^^^ I'm glad we didn't waste our pick on a d@mn kicker!!

I laughed when we didn't get Nuge.

I have never seen such a sausage fest over a kicker.

If it was Ted Nugent that would of been a different story, I would pay a lot of cash to watch that crazy bastard run around on the field.

Yeah, I think Edinger will do fine for us. I think he needed to kick in a dome half the season, that should really help his stats!

Hopefully Kluwe will beat out the old farts! He has 1 day left to make the team.
