Last week, I had a driving hour at the driving school that I attend. The instructor asked me what I had done over the weekend. I had replied that I had attended camp, and it loooked like she didn't give a crap. So I asked if she was a Viking fan. She replied no, she's a Packer fan (Originally from Milwaukee), and then she went into a lecture about how nice Coach Tice is and how that hurts the team. So, is Coach Tice too nice?

I don't think Tice is too nice. Some of his judgements over the last two years can be questioned, but I think this year is the true test. He couldn't ask for more talent or more depth. I think he needs at least 10 wins and a playoff win to keep his job. I think he'll succeed.

I'm not convinced being nice as a coach is a hinderance. I am sure he yells his head off and is a dick quite often anyway. I know he has a pretty talented team so I'm excited to see what he can do with it.

/optimism off

If it all falls apart he will make a fine scapegoat.

It doesn't matter if he's nice or mean. He needs coaching skills and needs the ability to make calls on a moments notice when the game is on the line.

Yeah, look at Mike Shanahan. He seems pretty nice and he has 2 superbowl rings.

I thought that was Daunte's job.

I like Tice and hope we have no reason to fire him. He finally has tools on defense and has the offense situated the way I think he woud like it. Here is to 12 wins and a deep playoff run ...

Yes, Daunte is a key component, no doubt about that, and he does an above average job at making decisions on the fly.

Tice will need to become better at making calls when the game is on the line and he has to make a decision without a lot of meditation time (do you think he has ever meditated...another discussion).

Tice is average in his pre-game planning and average in his during-the-game execution of the plan and well below average in his make-a-decision-on-the-fly abilities when the initial game plan isn't working well.
