Norv passing game shined with jason campbell and brandon weeden at qb .josh gordon rookie year 16 games 50 catches...his second year 14 games 87 catches jordan cameran te 80 catches...why you ask ..because norv got the single coverage matchup on josh ...he dictated to the D...and got josh in single coverage ..yes josh is good but norv was the reason for success ....remeber campell and brandon weeden were his qbs !!!!!
ALL THIS WITH 27 RANKED RUNNING GAME HE HAS A LOT MORE TO WORK WITH IN MINNESOTA ...

It might rank 11th,but he went through 3QBs (all backup at best) and got over 4000 years from them as well as Gordon dominating with his route running.Turner is an offensive genius, whether you wanna say he is or not. I for one an extremely excited for this season to show what he can do, even worth our situation at QB

I agree ... when you look at the offensive production that Norv has gotten in his career ... I have been pretty happy with the passing game. I did not always love what he did with the running game when he didn't have LT or Emmitt ... but that does not matter ... he has AP now and he was good with the greats.

Is anyone saying that Ponder will be a star.

Not a Ponder fan, but I can say I would rather we draft for depth on other positions before reaching for a QB.

They would all be dead after 4,000 years.

You're going to get more total yards when your team passes so often. The Browns had 681 pass attempts last year. The Vikings had 546.

The Browns QB's averaged 5.9 or 6.4 yards per pass attempt, depending on which site you look at. (4,047 or 4,372?) Their 6.4 average earned them a 29th ranking. The Bucs were the worst with 6.2.

The Vikings QB's averaged 6.7 yards per pass attempt.

If Musgrave would have had our QB's throw just as many times as Norv had the Browns QB's throw, we would have had a season total of 4,562 passing yards, which is more than what the Browns had.

All that with Ponder, Cassel & Freeman as his QB's.

By your own definition, had Musgrave passed a lot more & given the rock to AD a lot less, he would have been a genius by your standards.

last season when we played cleveland norv passed 55 times comp.33 for 306 yards ..a good day maybe ...ran the ball just 17 times 103 yards 6.1 per carry ...cleveland won ...what does this mean i dont know ha ha ...maybe im saying our defence sucked last year or norv did what he had to do to win ...yet cleveland won less games than we did ...maybe norv is the genius we think he is ...maybe ... i willing to gamble and say give him some weapons and he will get the job done

Until we get to see our new coaching staff in action, we can't know for sure if these guys will give us the winning seasons we desire.

BUT. The signs are much more hopeful than they have been for a LONG time. I love guessing at who we will draft, if we will trade up or down, whether Turner and Zimmer can work magic with what we have, etc... but until we see otherwise, I for one have stopped comparing past seasons and put my hopes in their hands with confidence.

Until proven otherwise, why not? It makes for a very happy day when your NFL team has leaders you (for the time being) trust!!

Yeah I am definitely intrigued especially after the FA signings

I think that the front offices make change like this on purpose so they have hopeful fans that don't jump the ship. The funny thing is there are a couple new coaches and more recycled head coaches bouncing from team to team. Recycled head coaches seem to lend to my theory.

I am excited too.

If Norv can get that kind of production out of Jason Campbell, Hoyer, and Weeden then I am sure he can get it out of Cassel. Remember, Cassel led the Pats with a 11-5 record because of good players and a good play caller. He will have that this year as well. Cassel is more than capable of putting up very good numbers and wins in the right system. How can any QB put up great numbers when from one week to the next you don't know if you are starting or will be the 3rd string and inactive.

Can we say that Josh Gordon is better than Patterson or Jennings? Can we say that Cameron is better than Rudolph? And we all know the Browns never had a running quite like what we have. I am actually very excited for next year. Whether that turns into wins and a playoff berth remains to be seen.
