What you guys think of signing Vick or Cutler on a 1 year deal. Spend teh first rounder on defense. Keep Cassell as the back up. Then draft Mettenberger in round 2 and sit him the whole year to make sure his knee heals up well....

Damn i should be the GM...

If Cutler plays for a 1 year deal it will be under the franchise tag for the Bears

From Merriam-Webster:

Mettenberger
met-ten-ber-ger (mt-nbrgr)
adj.
Used to describe someone who is a career backup.
[German, lack of talent, from Middle High German mettenberger, from 'das guy suchs', 'honestly bloghs', from Old High German 'fuch dis guy']

Let me think on it a bit. No. Vick used up, Cutler not the guy we need, Mettenberger iffy at best.

NO, NO, NO, NO,NO,NO, I am tired of putting retreads at the most important pos. in all of sports. It worked out two years '98 with Cunningham and 2009 with Favre, other than that it has been a big hot, steamy mess. We need to draft a QB this year and hopefully a good one (I want Blake Bortles).

Joe Kapp was a 'retread', Warren Moon was a 'retread'

But lets be clear, Cutler will NOT be signing a one-year deal with ANYBODY. Someone will sign him long-term to lots of dollars.

And Vick... I didn't want him when he wasn't old and washed up, I certainly don't want him now.

How long did we have them, what did they do for us, any Lombardi trophies?

Tark the second time around was a retread, Manning was a retread, McMahon was a retread as was George, Brister, McNabb and I could go on but my eyes are already just about bleeding.

Ah, by your logic then Marino was a waste of time. Hell, your namesake, Tarkenton never got us a Lombardi.

Unfortunately, I expect Vick to be our starter next year.

I hope I am wrong, and I will cheer if I am, but in the pit of my stomach, I feel it creeping up on us. Chris Carter (which was a GOOD pick up, this isn't a absolute), Randall Cunningham... then Donovan McNabb (by way of Washington)... we like to troll the Eagles leftovers.

Now Vick's time is up in Philly, and that feeling is coming back...

You need stability at the QB pos. retread after retread isn't the answer and you know it, you are just playing semantics. Those two examples gave their respective team a shot to go deep into the playoffs almost their entire careers. If you want to play the game go ahead but how many retreads really gave us a chance at the ring, give me some names, other than the two I gave you.

I agree. There are a lot of people hating on Manziel's game right now, but he's a top-notch talent.

I wouldn't mind McCarron, but don't have as much faith in him as I do Manziel.

Those QB can't stay healthy we'll be back in the same boat we should draft Aaron Murray in the second if he still there and use that top pick on defense and resign Cassel

No way Cutler will sign only a 1 year deal. Some team will offer him at least four years.

As a "passing quarterback", Vick leaves a lot to be desired. Pass.

Glad you aren't our GM....
