The authority’s request for proposal (RFP) called for 2,000 parking spaces within one block of the stadium that would be connected by skyway or tunnel

Not sure where the have enough room for a ramp to hold 2,000 cars within 1 block of the dome without buildings getting torn down or streets getting torn up.

It wont be a single ramp, it will be a mix of ramps and parking. Some of it will be existing parking that will be redone.

2000 cars may sound like a lot, but it is really only one ramp and a handful of parking lots. For comparison, the MCTC parking ramp on the other end of town holds 1400 cars, and takes up less than a city block.

The other thing to keep in mind is that the criteria of "within one block" is up to some interpretation. The HC Med Center ramp technically meets this criteria, since the eastern corner is one block from the dome. I don't know what its capacity is, but I am nearly certain that the 2000 number came from looking at existing ramps plus some new development. The big thing is to tie them to the new stadium by skyway.

I don't see anything in there about using them for tailgating. My theory is that tailgating is not something the Vikings really want to push, as you don't pay $10 for a beer while tailgating. Just a theory.
Come check out the entertainment on the plaza, and buy a beer.
