I'm pro-Thigpen... hope they make this happen.

Though the Chiefs went 1-10 in the 11 games that Thigpen started for them that season, he didn't play horribly or anything. He accounted for 22 touchdowns (18 passing, 3 rushing, and 1 receiving) and 12 interceptions in those 11 starts.

18 TDs and 12 INTs in 2008... in 11 games... essentially what Ponder did in 16 games this year.

The article keeps talking about Thigpen being a back-up. There's no reason he couldn't be in a legit competition for the starting gig if he signs with the Vikings.

I do see this as an upgrade, albeit a small one. But those aren't bad numbers, and he's got some scramblability...but not enuf skills to demand a shot at starting status. Might be a perfect fit.

He only completed 55% of his passes that year compared to Ponder's 62%.

But then again Thigpen only threw 16% of his passes behind the LOS compared to Ponder who threw 27% of his passes behind the LOS.

Thigpen also threw 33% of his passes for more than 10 yards compared to Ponder who only threw 26% of his passes over 10 yards.
