The third year defensive end out of USC (http://www.rantsports.com/pac-12-football/) (100th overall pick) has had difficulty getting on the field behind Jared Allen and Brian Robison. So the idea was hatched during the off-season to play him at linebacker (3-4), if for nothing else, just to get his talent on the field.

Everson Griffen: Minnesota Vikings DE Will Double As Linebacker : Minnesota Vikings (http://www.rantsports.com/minnesota-vikings/2012/08/07/everson-griffen-to-play-as-hybrid-for-minnesota-vikings-defense/)

Loving this move........:D

On a side note, did Brian really do that much better than Ray:

Tackle Solo Assist Sack

Last year Ray had 33 tackles no forced fumbles and 3.5 sacks.

I was using his stats from his last year as a Vike. Kindof did that because everyone said how good he should have been with the other lineman that were playing with him. Evened the stats so to speak with Rob.

Not many teams has a defensive end as their special teams gunner.

I think Griffen is a natural talent, and needs to be on the field when he can. I think he will help the Vikings get better.

I really don't care how, but, the coaches need to find a way to put him on the field more. Nuff said.

Me too. But he hasn't shown much this pre=season.
I think he will show up big if they continue to platoon him at tackle and end in passing situations.
