Can we still resign EJ?
He is still better than Jasper, and he has had a full year of recovery now.

He was better than Jasper, but he's not anymore. Jasper is a starter in this league when healthy and will be very good. Look at his number for the few games he has played in, he's always around the ball.

Unfortunately EJ's performance totally fell off the map last year, which is still why not one team has signed him.

Wasn't EJ in the 2011 Pro Bowl? That doesn't exactly suck.

Actually, I guess he was... didn't know that.

Pro Bowl votes don't always accurately reflect play on the field though, especially a 3rd-alternate.

I agree with that. Sometimes the voting doesn't make sense, but in the NFL, you aren't likely to be there if you suck. I hope Jasper turns into what EJ was, I just don't think he's close yet. Then again, our coaching staff is around these guys everyday. I am sure they are more capable than I at judging talent on the field.;)

22 tackles and 1 forced fumble in 4 games started during his rookie season? Not too shabby... that's more tackles/game than EJ in 2010 or 2011.

Because EJ, Erin and Chad were our 3 starters...

When on the field, he produces.

I think he was also injured for 1 of those 2 yrs wasn't he? But that wouldn't help my argument. Looks more in my favor when I say 5 tackles in 2 yrs.:D

Ha, point taken. In any case, he may play great on the field... but he'll never make it that far if he can't stay healthy. Hopefully this durability stuff is a non-issue, but we'll see I guess.

I agree that EJ's performance slipped, but I think alot of that had to do with the move of Chad from one side to the other and the insertion of Erin into that spot.

I think Chad plays better at the Will than the Sam.
