View Full Version : Percy Harvin's Role

First of all, hello. Have been following the vikings for a painstaking 10 years now and was a long time lurker around here

Now to my question.

What do you guys think percy's role on offense is going to be long term?

The coaching staff, and many fans, seem to believe that his ceiling is some type of slot receiver/running back hybrid.

I for one believe that he has shown enough talent and skill(hands, speed, route running) to be a legitimate wide receiver, along the lines of a steve smith or santana moss. Thus, it is my opinion that we are wasting valuable time by not allowing him to further develop as a deep threat. Especially with the season lost as it is, I think he should be given the chance to prove himself, rather than wait around for the next coming of Sidney Rice.

I think they're trying to limit him because of the migraine issue, but if he's healthy come game day I don't see why he's not a bigger part of the game plan. It drives me crazy trying to watch Booker or Sherels return kicks when it seems like PH takes every other kick to the house. We should be getting him 15-20 touches per game, he's just too good not to. But this franchise is good at limiting it's own weapons or not using them correctly. They'll give TG 17 carries, but how many games does AP barely get 17? It's ridiculous.

As heartwarming as it is that the staff is concerned about Percy's health, in all my years of following football I have never ever ever heard of limiting a players snaps like this. If there are serious concerns about his health he should not be playing at all, otherwise they need to get him out there as much as possible.

And another note, I feel that the regime the last few years has consistently gotten the least out of the few superstar quality players that we have had. It makes me sad thinking about what Bill Belichick could do with Percy; Wes Welker on juice me thinks. The same goes for AD. The amplification of a players talent by quality coaching just does not happen here.

Harvin can and should dominate out of the slot...if he can stay healthy. I don't think we know what is going on with him physically?
