Report: StarCaps suspensions could be reduced

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/08/23/report-starcaps-suspensions-could-be-reduced/

Because the new policy possibly will utilize only a two-game suspension for players who test positive for diuretics, and because StarCaps contained a banned diuretic, Kevin Williams, free-agent Pat Williams, and Saints defensive end Will Smith would see their suspensions cut in half.

Murphy reports that the suspensions likely won’t be implemented for Week One, which means that Kevin Williams (if healthy) will be playing against the Chargers in San Diego, and that Smith will be playing against the Packers at Lambeau Field.

Good stuff. Haven't got to the other thread yet so not sure if anyone answered my question.

If Kev can't go cause of his foot and misses a few games, do the suspended games count during that timeframe?

If he's not ready to go I don't think you tell anyone.
Of course if the suspension doesn't go into effect week 1, and he can't go we're kinda screwed.

Thanks, but judging from what our good friend Marshallvike said in the other thread, they changed the rule to keep things like this from happening.

Course I'm sure a good FO puke like Bryzcheapski and his minions can figure a loop hole in it almost as fast as they can work a contract this year.

I think the issue with that at this point is we already know he's done for the preseason and so does Adolf Hit...I mean Roger Goodell. Not sure of the exact date but at some point before week one we'll need to have Kev listed on the injury report so I think it's too late to hide that foot injury. With our luck he'll miss the first 2 or 3 games of the regular season and then get suspended.

Thanks my friend.

I don't know, he will be missed, but I'm liking what I'm seeing out of the rotation, except of course how teams seem to run at will at the LDE. Shore that up a bit and we might just get by.

As long as he's on the active roster, then the suspended games count, whether or not he would actually play.

Thats good news. Quick question, what are you basing that on?

Experience. I'm not going to go out there and dig up the rule on something I know to be true.

Relax my friend. Just asking. Wasn't sure if this was another rule in the new CBA.

I'm relaxed. It's just one of those things I know to be true, like a TD is worth 6 points, encroachment involves contact and the Raiders cheerleaders are cheap whores.

Oh brother......

On a side note....

So it looks like Williams will likely miss the first two games of the season. Funny thing is, with Williams currently battling plantar fasciitis, there was already a good chance he would miss those games anyway. So, after all these years, all that legal maneuvering, all the endless back-and-forth in the courts, it appears this whole thing will at last be resolved by having Kevin Williams sit out two games he probably wants to sit out anyway so he can rest and get his foot right. Awesome.

Not sure if 2 weeks into the season he will be ready from reading stuff like this.
